Fmic charge piping 2200/2.2L
Friday, December 23, 2005 10:08 AM
I was wondering if anyone with a turbo'd 2.2L ohv could post pics up of how they have thier charge pipes routed. I am going to ditch my current side mount in favor of a nice fmic. I have looked at the car and I'm trying to keep them short as possable.

TIA
Don

this is probably the best way to go for us:

Adler's Setup.

Once I saw his routing, I completely changed mine. You literally take out 5ft of piping going this route.

here is what mine looked like before it went away for the winter............. I am clocking the turbo to face down.... getting a front mounted fan for my rad.............. and doing the charge piping under like adlers...... way nicer.............. ........

Different enigne but the layout it the same. on both engines. I added a custom radiator so to run my set-up but there is litterally less than 3ft of actual charge piping.

I have an equal length turbo header that holds the turbo pretty low. The passenger side charge pipe plugs right into the turbo and is about 8" long. Ther driver's side is a little over 2ft long and goes straight up into the throttle body.

that was 2 days after I bought the car. It's just covered in road salt dust and the charge pipes are painted black.

that BOV looks like it mounts onto the DSM flange? Is that correct? It looks a lot similar to a 1st gen DSM bov.

if you relocated the battery to the trunk could you run the piping kinfda like adler's without removing the washer fluid?

i am a big fan of washer fluid especially in the winter lol

I relocated my washer fluid reservoir to the trunk.

for now its a 4L washer fluid bottle with the pump on a foam float, it works great!

Since I changed the routing, it turns out I probably didn't have to take out the reservoir.

I'm keeping the battery where it is. I have a beater for the winter times. I'm more interested in how the side to side action was done with the pipes

haha, from my garage.. I have an empty 4L jug that I cut in half to get the pump inside on the foam float, and duct taped it shut. Then lengthened the power wire from the front of the car to the back. From that point all you have to do is run some tubing, and find a suitable ground. It doesn't look all that fancy, but I dont drive a 'show' car.

Ken2.2: That's a hot setup man. Did you piece most of that stuff together? Also, what kind of fuel mods do you have going on? I didn't see any is the registry...

Yea I forgot to add those. lol I am using Stock Z24 24lb injectors, with a Cartech Adjustable FMU.

I peiced my WHOLE kit together. I even made my own wiring harness for the MSD. I bought it off a kid who crashed his car and all he had was the box. I paid $100. Works like a champ.

Everything on my car is done by me

Total cost of what I have spent is $1000.00
