take your front bumper cover off and you'll see all the black rebar in front of your core support. that's rebar

i thought rebar was the stuff they put in concrete, and that thing under the bumper cover was called a bumper.

i'd also like to add, that the intercooler you pictured, will probably be too overefficnent for your project. too much boost loss through it. but that's just my opinion.

Unless you plan on running like 25lbs of boost through that thing, all you'll be is disappointed. You'll get really bad turbo lag while the turbo fills and pushes air through an intercooler that is way too big for your needs. You need to size the intercooler to the power that you're making. Too big can be just as bad as too small.

Your lucky I had the 2000+ Drift front bumper on my car before !!!!!!!!!!!!

Check out my car domain for pics of my intercooler with the drift front................

The size that will fit in PERFECTLY with the rebar and the 2000+ drift front bumper is ......

DUH DUH DUHDUH DUH DUH !!!!!!!!!.............(drum rolling.........)

30"wide x 7"deep x 2" or 2 1/2"thick

The 7"deep will fill the gap of the drift bumper nicely...... Not hang low .... and not be too large for your rebar to have to be cut.......

it will Butt up against the rebar exactly and still hang perfect ........ check out my cardomain.

Turbo lag on mine is minimal and my intercooler is monster but i do plan on running high boost later on but heres mine i did have to do quite a bit of massaging to get it in there mind you. But mine is 34x10.5x3.5. But in my opinion on my last kit i had a intercooler that was 28x7x2.5 and that was plenty for 12psi. its all about your plans for the future if you plan to run high boost after a rebuild why go through 2 intercooler purchases and 2 installs.

Wow...um. yeah.

If you're not removing your bumper support entirely and creating a duct to flow air to the upper half of that intercooler, then you've just wasted a ton of money on the upper 34"x5.25"x3.5" of that gianormous thing.

Anything taller than 6 inches is a waste if you're not cutting the bumper support or removing it entirely.

damn that airflow to HALF the intercooler must really justify its size... <smashes head into desk>

saw some holes in or cut away the support or something... you were dumb enough to buy a HUGE intercooler, dont be even dumber by hiding half of it behind the freaking bumper support

the upper half will be covered by c02 sprayers by spring witha 50lb cylinder in the trunk so waste i think not yes half is out of the air flow but it will still take heat way yes the bottome half itaking the heat away from the air but by the time spring comes things will be different yes i know at the current moment it is not as efficient as it should be. Laugh all you want i care not. But with2 sprayers on the top half and a sprayer on the bottom with an industrial size 50lb cylinder in the trunk that opens the solenoids at boost will not be so inefficient i plan on rebuilding the motor with 8.9:1 compression, weisco pistons, arp studs, eagle rods, ported polished heads, comp cams turbo cams, new springs, valves, retainers, bigger turbo, etc.... for now yes i agrees its not as efficient as it should be. but its for bigger plans. I had a smaller one over this last year and lag was about the same and i dont see a drop in hp. Thats not dyno proven thats opinion driven. the money i spent on the first intercooler was 200 this one was 230 so we will see what summer brings me. but yes i can handle the criticism. Just to make sure are you saying that the top half of the intercooler does not cool the air charge down at all?

you probably noticed you are blocking a lot of radiator flow...

yet it runs exactly the same temp as the old intercooler which was 28x7x2.5. So im not sure how thats relavant

I also did not cut anyholes in the supports of the bumper i did take out a small section of metal on each side so it fit and that is where i plan to mount the co2 sprayera

Bigger intercoolers are not always better. Having half of it covered with his conservative boost settings is ok, when he decides to up the boost and go into the 300-400WHP range then it's time to start cutting because of the anomoly we call, "heat soak".

Jason Ruggiero: With the amount of boost you will be running I think your intercooler will have a negative effect. Lets say that a 13,000 cm. core drops the intake temperature to 40 degrees @ 1.3 psi "static" pressure drop, a 8,000 cm. core may drop the temperature to 41 degrees @ 0.80 psi "static" pressure drop, which will produce more power even though it's smaller (with a difference of 1 degree of heat there). The bigger intercooler increases friction (drag) of the air, coupled with the piping and bends you're in for a heap of trouble.

Figure out what your plans are and get the best overall intercooler and pipework for your car, it may make a worthwhile gain, probably a lot cheaper too!
