Wondering what all you turboed 2.4L owners out there are doing for your intake.... I know alot are just using a mesh or somthing but i kind of want to use a filter as my engine bay gets VERY dusty and dirty and i dont want that stuff going threw the turbo and into the engine... but even so if your just using the mesh post some pictures so i can get an idea for what i am going to have to do.

given the location of the turbo, get a piece of screen and a hose clamp and get it good and tight over your compressor housing. No need for an air filter
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.

well it would have to be a pretty tight weave to stop all the dust and dirt i get in my engine compartment from going threw the turbo and into the s/c'er then into the engine... I work on a construction site LOTS of dust and dirt and even when i use the truck for work and the car is only driven in the city it still gets VERY dusty and dirty in there and for the cheap price of a filter i don't know if i want to risk my engine over a $50 filter...

Well josh, you're not gonna risk your engine. I ran nothing for 6 months. Just took off my turbo and the fins had a few tiny nicks in them, but nothing even close to serious. The biggest drawback is the cleanliness of the oil. Gets dirty fast with no filter. I wouldn't worry about rocks though. Don't get my wrong, get a filter on there if you can. But if you can't, thats my input
Blew it up
^ How is your oil getting dirty because you don't have an air filter?
You are really going to have to design a custom intake, each setup is different. Mine can't have a filter on it because of how its mounted. Hopefully Brian will screw a screen on there before bolting it up this time

Adler - what turbo is that? and or where did you get that heat wrap?
98redcavz24 - yea i know im not worried about the rocks... its more the dirt that gets spit up into the engine bay... do you have any pictures of your engine bay?

It is a T3/T4 62-1compressor with a T3 .63 a/r turbine housing with a stage 5 turbine wheel inside. I cant remember from whom Mike purchased the heat wrap..

you can get one of those foam filters....they take up very little space. HKS makes them.

have you ever thought about using maximums boosts intake pipe. Sure its not the cleanist install but it doesnt look to bad and would be what your looking for.
Thanx Charles
