2.2 supercharger?
Wednesday, December 07, 2005 7:12 PM
i was just wondering if anyone had a supercharged 2.2, 2200. i know gm makes one for the 2.4 and eco but thus far i havent seen anything for the 2.2, 2200. I also didnt know if anyone had made a custom set-up for one. Id really like to supercharge mine but i was just curious if i even could... sorry if this is a silly question

It would definately require removal of your power steering pump...
It would involve a completely custom manifold on a 2200 (stock is plastic tubular)...
but on an older ln2 it may be as easy as an s10 lower manifold and an adapter plate(shhh...it's a secret )
Basically, it's so much easier and more efficient to turbocharge it, why would you want to?
Oh yeah, RSM makes a centrifugal supercharger fi you're set on the idea.

you don't need a manifold to run a supercharger not even for a roots style blower.... just look up the jackson racing miata kit, to see what i'm talking about.

For the original poster, RSM is the only company that does superchargers for the 2.2, and i'm not sure if they're still around or not. They used a Vortech blower which frankly, on an 8 valve 4 cylinder, left less than stellar results and a very peak-oriented powerband... you're better off with a turbo, although the supercharger in all honesty wouldn't be too much harder than doing your own custom turbo kit. Just needs a bracket or two to hold the blower in place (wherever you mount it), then figure out what belt to use (obviously you need a longer one than stock), and then you can run charger piping either to an intercooler or directly through the throttle body depending on what level of boost you'd like to run. But, if you can't weld, or aren't comfortable with fabrication, wait for Hahn's 2200 turbo kit.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. Some guy ran a M45 off a mercedes that way on his 2.4L a while back (still have the video, sounds crazy). I didn't mention it because the only place to mount it on a LN2 is right next to the downpipe, possibly in place of an ac compressor, which is, far from a good idea.
