Saab turbo project FAQ
Tuesday, December 06, 2005 10:20 AM
I'm making this to educate not only myself, but everyone that's interested in creating a turbo kit that's based from the parts of a '03 and up Saab 93. I'm going to ask a series of questions that I would like information about, and hopefully we'll be able to compile the answers I get to create an easy DIY for everyone.

1. Is the Saab 93 oil pan interchangeable to the 2.2 Ecotec? I ask this because the Saab 93 oil pan is already tapped, I'm assuming, and just a quick swap would take away the headache of drilling and cleaning.

2. What are the part numbers for the following products so we can order them from Saab directly if needed?

a. Injectors (possible fitment with the 03 Eco, definite with the 02 Eco.)
b. Exhaust manifold
c. Turbocharger (Mitsubishi TD04)
d. Oil pan (if the part actually fits)

3. What version Saab 93 do we get the parts from if we're junkyard shopping? There are several!

4. Do we "need" a BOV for the Saab kit? (The TD04 turbo has a built in BOV, right?)

5. Does the Saab turbocharger (Mitsubishi) TD04 come with an internal wastegate?

6. Will this work on a non-Ecotec 2.2 or 2.4?

If there are more questions, please feel free to add to this. I feel that answering some of the questions above would help everyone interested in a Saab project a TREMENDOUS amount.

Thanks for your support, JBO!

This shoudl help since i pieced together brandonsons tubo and manifold.

1. No its not interchangable.....it doesnt have the holes for the lower mount and the oil drain inst in the pan its in the lowercrank case.....so the piece above the oil pan.

2. ill get back to you on the numbers....but
a. Injectors 120ish a piece.......will fit on and 03 w/ the 03 spacers.

b. Exhaust manifold....400 bucks
c. Turbocharger (Mitsubishi TD04)....good luck like 2200
d. Oil pan (if the part actually fits).no need

3. 2003+ saab 9-3 w/ the 2.0.i think its the Big T not the little one.
4. Indeed there is a blow off valve on the compressor housing

5. Yes to internal wastegate.
6. No it will only work on ecotec engines.....2.0 2.2 and 2.4.only the first 2 have had the kit unknown on the 4th one.

The following are the engine codes that exist for the '03 and up Saab 93. Which engine do we take parts from?

1. B207R
2. B207L
3. B205R
4. B207R This is the Vector, which I believe is the model with the most horsepower.
5. B235R
6. B308E
7. B235E

there is no need to put the saab oil pan on your car, dont know why you waould want to.

all these questions have already been answered but its good to get them in an FAQ i guess.
