ok i was looking around dose any one make a black intercooler?
Could always get one anodized black. This way you're not limited in your selection.
just take a spray can to it if you want it black. That's all it would be if you bought a black one anyway.
Any coating you put on the aluminum is going to decrease its ability to dissipate heat. If you really don't want people to know you are turbocharged, hide the intercooler behind the bumper and put a silet blow-off valve on it.

i understand if i paint it its not going to do its job fully. but wouldn't u see a intercooler behind a 95-99 z24 front bumper?.and do u know where i can get a silet BOV?
Go to a junkyard and look at a 1g eclipse/talon/laser w/e and look at the bov on it. It recirculates back into the pipes when it opens. Just use that setup it will basically be silent.

Yeah mine didnt even come close to fitting behind my bumper, so its like in/under it, but yeah you could get a BOV and connect it to your PCV valve i believe, same kind of set up as stated above, not sure though ive never seen anyone do it.
Wow, DO NOT CONNECT YOUR BOV TO YOUR PCV
If you get a 1g DSM BOV (bypass valve), you need to re-route the blow off back to your intake pipe before your turbo and after the filter. Many people boosting J's don't even have a pipe there to recirculate into though. You could also try a bosch BOV if you're running lower boost, they're supposed to be pretty quiet.
Also, on the FMIC. I have one from johnnyracecar.com that was anodized black for like $40 extra.

better a delay than a disaster.
the 1g BOV is not very silent. They kind of sound like dropping a trash bag full of dry leaves onto the ground. If you want quite, get a cheap bosch or a turbonetics raptor.

you would pay a CRAP TON for andonizing an intercooler. paint it with radiator or grill paint. make sure you can still see through it if you hold it up to light

i may not need to paint it
this is the kit i am most likely getting
as far as silent BOV's....
get a 1st gen dsm bov....
it works great.......... and it's so sleeper...
haha good luck

when you contact JRC just request one anodized black, It will cost more, but if its what you want who cares lol.

so you missed the thread about how Maximum Boost isn't a real business and you can assemble the same kit he does on ebay while saving yourself about $1100 (that's his profit on every kit. imagine making $1100 to buy stuff on ebay, box it, and ship it from his warehouse, i mean living room)

You do
not need to re-route the blow off back into your intake pipe on our motors. Only motors that use MAF sensors need to do this.
1g DSM BOV's are not very quiet at all.

JRC has stopped selling black intercoolers for the moment. There is a problem with the anodizing process. For some reason, it corrodes the mounting bosses to the point of weakening their hold on the intercooler.

You spend all this money adding a turbo, making sure the engine gets enought fuel and that it all runs right. You even go to the length of installing an intercooler to cool the intake charge down to make more power.
**Why would you paint it black? Goes against the whole reason you have an intercooler! Makes it less effcient, ups the intake charge temp. and will make less power!WHY!!??**
If you don't want anyone to see your intercooler, mount it somewhere hidden, put a black grille in front of it, hell use some of that ugly ass aluminum mesh they put on Honda body kits over it. But give the intercooler a chance and don't paint it!
Silent BOV? Try a WRX or Saab recirculating one. They are the quietest ones I have heard stock. Or wrap it in foam.....

what are you talking about i am not just going to be adding a turbo to a stock engine i know what i want and i'll get it. i have emailed JRC they are going to be doing a new set of black inter coolers. i know about the fuel injectors, fuel pump then engine will not be stock. the reason i want a black inter cooler is to hide it so its not standing out like a sore thumb on an all black car.

Every car i've ever heard with a 1g dsm has been quiet as hell. Including mine
Sore thumb? Shiny aluminum looks great on black. But hey you are right, you know what you want and you will get it. Just make sure its a good intercooler to begin with.
