another turbo kit out there?

Hey all, I've searched and read in the FAQ's to see if I can find this kit mentioned and I haven't found it anywhere yet. I was wondering if anyone knows of it, or if I just hadn't found mention of it yet but it's in use. Unfortunately I can't just link the exact page cause their site is slightly retarded in some way, you'll have to navigate a bit through their site:

Import Performance Parts

(I know, obviously the J-body isn't an import...I found the site because I own a 3G Eclipse but my wife has an '02 Sunfire. But, I digress...)

On the left side of the page, click J-Body. Then, click Turbo Kits on the next page (the choices are in alphabetical order...plenty of other nice things to choose from here though too, and the prices seem pretty good). Aaaannd, there ya go. Turbo Specialties turbo kits. Any clue about them? And it says 2.2L (non-Ecotec). Would they mean 95-98 or 99-02, or both?

For some reason I don't trust it...

That kit has been around for a while, its been posted a few times before. No one on this site seems to have it but it looks like a pretty good kit to me.

Yeah I'm not sure about it - the price is pretty cheap and they've obviously posted the peak HP capability of the different turbos, but labled those as the gains with each one. Obviously you're not going to gain 250 HP on a 2.2L with their turbo kit. But the "extreme" kit does seem fairly complete. It'd be nice if there was some way to find out about the quality of the manifold/downpipe, etc, that's why I was wondering if anyone has any experience with them.

Its a cast manifold, the only cast turbo manifold i've even seen for a j body, for any engine. My guess is that the manifold will outlast all others sold.

nice looking kit but its set up to add a couple injectors right there at the throttle bodie. I've heard that thats not a real good idea. something about the fuel might puddle in your intakemanifold, or it could flash back and ignite in the intake manifold or something like that

Yea that is very true... i would personaly get the manifold at least if they had one for the 2.4L....

I wonder about that too. Probably not any more of a risk than using nitrous. It would make sense the fuel would be atomized enough to make it somewhat safe so that it wouldn't be a problem. Could be wrong. If I'm wrong that could be bad.

ohh...I didn't catch that part. very good point.

as for the cast manifold, yeah that'll last, but I'm also thinking in terms of flow - you wouldn't really want it to flow like @!#$ and not be able to draw the heat away from the pistons. the manifolds don't really *look* like they'd flow that much better than the stock manifolds.

Take a look at all the big name import kits, Greddy, HKS, they're using cast manifolds on their kits and in all reality, they flow just as well as a welded tubular manifold, but the advantages of a tubular manifold are really about placement of the turbo and the ability to have an equal length design in the runners.

I emailed them the other day and asked if they had pictures of the actual kit, or if they could give me the name of someone who had it installed on their car and this is the response I got:

We do not have a specific picture of the kit we use general pic's they all look the same anyways. We do not give out names of our customers but we have sold tons of those kits with no problems.

The picture they are using is obviously a Greddy kit with a cast manifold; it just seems a little strange.
