Its finally done
Tuesday, November 29, 2005 9:12 AM
I started doing research and buying stuff when I first turned 16, I turned 17 two weeks ago and everything was mounted to the car. Looks like all the dumb questions Ive asked on here paid off lol. I Finally got around to setting the cartech this morning started it up and decided to take it for a drive. It was kind of a stupid choice considering it has no exhaust except a downpipe. I took it out and was just cruzin the county roads, I wasn't planning on stepping on it but why not? Wow i new it would make quite a difference but this is insane, i just took off slowly in first gear got it spooled a little and stepped on it. It lit up the tires and took off i didn't think id have to ever shift that fast in this car. it sure did put a grin on my face lol. Hopefully ill get the exhaust on later this week and get some of the install pics put on.

I really want to thank you all for the help and information you all gave me. (skilz, spotabee, Lee, respooled, shifted, oh and that shocker dude lol). I'm pretty impressed with how it turned out. Here in a month or so ill invest in an intercooler. Maybe I should've waited so i had everything the first time but income is slow in high school. hopefully the turbo will still be pretty loud when the exhaust is on, im going 2.5 all the way back. thanks.

Once you install the intercooler, you will notice a big power gain. It's like night and day difference. And with the exhaust, you'll still hear the turbo spool, but nearly as noticable as with the open DP. Good luck with the ride, it's nice to see another boosted OHV

Yeah it feels good to have it done. Its wierd to go look at it and everythings under the hood. It was pretty intense stepping on it the first time i didnt know what was going to happen probably the coolest thing was hearing all that air going into the intake, then listening to the bov after shifting to second.

I wonder how much longer this motors going to last, i have another one with 40k on it. but theres not a lot of people on here running boost on the 97 and older ohv motors mainly because of the injectors i think. I dont run megasquirt, nor use a wideband. Some of you are strongly against this, but I ran the crap outa this thing today, pulled the plugs they looked good, good compresion, and i looked at the cylinders and they look good. So hopefully everything will stay like this.

cartechs around 8 or 9-1 only time it smoked was when i shifted a gear i think thats normal tho from any turbo cars ive seen, and the only reason i so that is because there was no exhaust. Everything seems to be good, and id like to keep it that way lol.

Wow I hear you man. I started ordering my boost stuff when I was 16 and I turned 17 and May and worked all summer and now I am hopefully down to the final week before my turbo setup is complete. Congrats and I hope to see some pics soon. Also if you looking for a good, quality, cheap intercooler go johnnyracecar.com.
