I'm pretty new to these cars and engines even though my dad has bein building them for like 20 year (he works at GM in Lordstown were they now make the Cobalt). but i wanna set my standards high. i am curios as to how much Horse power i would need to break mid to low 12's? also i want to build the ecotech. because i don't have very good luck with 2.4's (destroyed 2 of them in my grand am. but i'm just wondering how unobtainable low 12's would be?
anyone??

shouldn't be too hard. there are a couple of people knocking on the door of
low 12s. get a good turbo system together, slicks or DR's, and work on your launches. as for turbo systems, search it up. Hahn seems to be the front runner with ecotecs (no h), if you search you can find some dyno's on here. i went down my own path and made a systems from scratch, you can find my dyno numbers with a little bit of looking.
its obtainable, just be smart with your selection and search this forum thoroughly.
and don't expect it to happen overnight. good luck.
i know i intend to build my own turbo kit. and i'm not rushing anything i plan to buy another ecotech and build it while i continue to use the car for a daily driver and the engine isn't going in till it's pretty well built

My best advice is to read as much as you can. Read the FAQ's in this forum and the performance forum. Also, once every blue moon you can find something useful on ecotecpower.com . When I initially decided I wanted to boost my car, I was counting on GM to pull through with the S/C. This was spring of '04. Needless to say, I couldn't wait any longer so I made my own turbo setup. The point is, I read as much as I could, priced parts, examined diagrams and did my homework for over a year.
Then, when I started I have a pretty good idea of what I was getting into.
Everyone in this forum is helpful if you need to ask a question, but search first and make sure that it hasn't already been answered. Good luck!
FAQ are key here man ..... were just kidding about the spelling thing .... just do some reading and come back with some good questions.............
if ur dad has been building them forever he should know a thing or 2 about them ...
