Monday, November 21, 2005 6:02 AM
Alright after reading and thinking long and hard i have decided i will get a gm s/c. I have a 96 vert 2.4L After searching and reading i need a few questions answered please.

1. Is this the correct part number for the s/c for my car? #12498660
2. Do i HAVE to have a bigger TB? if so. is the 62mm the best for it?
3. Is it required that i do a reflash after installing the s/c?
4. Is it required to use the HO injectors? if so were can i get them from.

Thanks alot to whoever helps me out!!

ya most people on here after they do there own research learn enough to complete the install in around 4-6 hours...... think about it ..... come home at lunch time on friday .... by the night time your gm s/ced.......... a starter is easy to do .......
if you have the money and your getting bigger injectors etc........ get a smaller pulley .... get a 2.5".... you'll love boost then !!!!

stay far away from HO injectors.

i have been through it all and my current set up on the stock pulley ( 2k starter, stock injectors, cartech FMU, Walbro fuel pump) for about a year now is the right way to go..

and u will have to clear a check engine light for a EGR code.

that is the info you need, no more, no less.

price= starter- 35$ i got mine from a junk yard.

S/C- depends.

FMU- 100-200$.

Walbro pump=- 100$

Why? So he can buy a turbo and piece together a turbo setup and have a million headaches on the way, along with oil leaks, a harder install, stricter maintence, and what else? The GM S/C isn't a mad power adder like a turbo, but it certainly makes for fun times thats easy to install and simple to tune.

Listen to Jake, he is right. Besides, who helped him with that setup?

O noes!

Totally agree with you there, not to mention the fact that it's a gm product so it's under some sort of warranty so if something happens to the SC. hey it's warranty time. And you have to realize that not all states allow modification to that extent. California, for example, has a law that says pretty much no turbo for cavaliers because there's no CARB certified one. But the GM charger is legal, so they can't do anything about that. It's fairly safe, reliable boost. So by telling him to save money, what do you rather him do Orange?

^ sounds like u are going for looks.

so far to date jc92camaro has the fastest non nitrous'd gm s/c with 13.26@107. he is adding a better then the stock clutch, spec flywheel, 2.5 pulley, forged internals and 55 shot of nitrous.

that time is right there with 90% of the turbo guys .

You just have to know what you are doing when it comes to making good power with the gm s/c.

the gm s/c has it's ups and downs.

but like i said, if u need any more help with the supercharging your 96, get a hold of me and i will help you out .

later
