Seriously......
Saturday, November 05, 2005 10:09 PM
I understand that this post is going to get locked and I understand that I may get banned for posting off topic in the boost forum.
In reality, this is boost related.
This forum is getting out of control. Why can't someone make a post that lasts more than one page without everyone blowing up at eachother. All of this fighting is doing nothing but making everyone on this site look like an ass. I'm not going to point anyone out, but it isn't JUST the obvious names. Everyone is taking sides and all it is doing is fueling the fire.
Why can't we debate over the fastest ecotec without name calling and slander?
There is more than one person with a built engine be it a twin cam, ecotec or other J engine.
If you have a problem with someone, talk to THEM. I don't want to hear about it and I'm sure nobody else does. Do you think calling someone out on personal matters make you cool? Hell no! I'm not impressed.

Seriously, I personally am on this site to debate about and educate people about 2.3s and 2.4s, learn more about ecotecs 660s some other new performance ideas, and most importantly get help about (and teach some on) my new 2.0 sohc turbo motor.
I don't care if your track times give you a ball swelling ego.
For Christ's sake, BE CIVILIZED!

Drama sucks. unfortunatley drama seems to follow car people. for every good thing about something theres 10 jerks with something negative to say about it. best advice i could share is sit back and laugh to yourself at those asshats with closed minds who screw themselves out of an otherwise good thing.

I think it's funny...I totally agree w/ MINION. Has neone noticed how the older turbo gurus are either completely gone from this site, or only posts occasionally? Why would they want to help out a bunch of a$$clowns anyway? Someone posts a " can you help me with..." thread and next thing it's " my car can beat your car!" I fell like i'm back in middle school or something!

Unfortunately it seems as though all the senior members of this site rarely post anymore. Can you blaim them though?

MINION I completely agree with you, if any forum should be kept civilized, its the boosted forum.

It was the last one to go to @!#$, now lets bring it back up to par.

Re: Seriously......

thanks for agreeing with me instead of telling me that this isn't the place. The thing is, I know this isn't the place. If I get banned for this, it isn't really going to phase me. Mostly all I do is answer people's questiions anyway. I'd say this is well worth the risk of having extra time on my hands.

Before the lock, thanks guys
(even better if it could get a sticky!)

I diasgree wholeheartdly.

for startes this is the org. that should be awnser enoguh There was drama there is drama and there will always be drama. also for the most part the ranting and raving stay in foumrs that dont require to much if any skill to make a decent post (I.E. this one)

also I hope you realised that generalazation of your argument is that you are tiered of people posting for arguments sake and that your tired of fighting and name calling.

well just in case you missed it this post is nothing more then a poteintial fight. also your are takeing a swing at people that take swings at people which in its own right is confuesing.

So I leave you with this the best way to stop the craziness of internet name calling is by dueing the exact oppistie of what you just did. bring atteintion to it. just leave it alone this is a free sight on the internet with a less then limited user filter so @!#$ is gonna get said. relax breathe and help out your fellow man were gonna get through this I promise.

Well, you are entitled to your opinion. Just remember that there are a lot of people that have/had been here a long time and arejust pools of knowledge. They are willing to give it out... free.. just as you said. Have you noticed that they are posting less and less? There are people here still, but I am seeing less of Shifted, less of Event, ect... There are also the people that are still heavy posters that just seam to be snappy lately like SKillz. Awesome car, I have mad respect for him and I don't blame him for the shortness of his posts at all.
My point is, the site is only as good as the knowledge pool it is associated with. I seriously find myself wanting to post less every day. I've had a few times where I will stop posting all together.
There are people here that are doing new and great things and you can't blame them is they get out of THIS scene beause it went sour. So many projects could have been completed had there been more interests.
Sure, you can sit around and let it all go to waste if you want, but i know i have a blast posting up my projects and every other post makes me less enthused.

were not going to stop it no matter what we do as for the old heads on hear. I think your missing the fact that the average age demographic of the site is something like 15 to 23 ( i pulled those numbers from my own personal experience with other members)

as people get older there priorites start become a bit more clear and there project car starts to get nudged out with the good ol Jbo. I myself rue the day but except it as stage of matureity. but as they say out with the old in with the new. the knowldge of those that are to be consider masters of there trade are being passed on to other enthuisats via this site. and some day as I start to grow hair on places I dont want it I will due the same. so like I said relax and try not to take control of a situation wich you have no control. be happy that the knowldge is still hear and know that with the amazing sucess of the eco on the strip entuhisasts such as My self arent going anyware.

^^^^^^^^^^^ That was my point, when I first came here, even b4 I was a member there were so many more people that knew their @!#$. I only post here anymore if I need something I can;t figure out or search for, or if something meaningful comes around. I know the BS isn't going to stop...but at the same time I think the mods should step more often, I think that would help keep it to a minimum. Think about it, if the post starts to get out of control, lock it, ban people for awhile, whatever. U know, it almost seems like there is favritizm here...like certain people get away with more BS than others. I guess that kinda makes since because some of them pretty much spend there lives on this site and its more personal for them. My point is that for the newer people or the ones who actually need help, get shafted. Just my opinion.

I agreed with what you were saying until you made this statement. I will tell you this, after talking and even meeting/hanging out with a moderator in person (Tony aka Cannon Fodder), we talked alot about the org and how the moderators act to certain issues and people. One of the things we asked about was favoritism.

His answer to me about favoritism is that it doesn't go on. The moderators here are hand picked by Dave. Dave picks them because they are responsible, good decision making people. They can see a situation and take care of it and do what is proper. They also recognize that favoritism is NOT allowed and they follow that rule.

What people fail to realize is that no one would know if someone was warned or banned for whatever conduct, only the moderators or Dave would know unless the person getting the ban or warning opened their mouth to someone about it. Everyone thinks cause they see someone doing something against the rules that no one takes care of it when in reality they wouldn't have any idea of how the moderators conduct is towards that situation.

I am good friends with Tony but I know if I was to post a porn picture in off topic, he would take care of me properly because I broke a rule, regardless of our friendship.

Now Minion, I fully agree with you...flaming and BS calling and fighting in general is stupid. I mean, I've always said you're either here to help, learn or have fun...anything else, get out! There is no need to ruin a good thing like this place like some have attempted to do. There is so much information and knowledge around here, it's sickening but people fail to realize this.

Stevefire wrote:Unfortunately it seems as though all the senior members of this site rarely post anymore.

That could be due to many reasons...they grew out of the JBO, have more responsibility, have less free time or even don't have the Internet anymore but I will say that the immaturity does play on people sometimes and keeps them away from here. I personally can see beyond the immaturity and see the good around this website...heck why do you think I'm such a post whore? I like it here, I've met lots of great people, learned SO much information and even gained a car club out of it due the JBO.

Of course, I am only one person who thinks a certain way and has a higher tolerance of different things. Most get flamed a few times and say "F this place" and leave...me...I've been flamed plenty of times but I stay because I know there is more to this place. I hope one day I can become a moderator to help put things more to a halt and keep people in check and get rid of the people who aren't here to help or keep this place positive.

Jcavi wrote:as people get older there priorites start become a bit more clear and there project car starts to get nudged out with the good ol Jbo.

Well said Jason. Myself, I have a baby now and I know that one day my car will become probably no longer or fully on the back burner so I can buy my kid video games, clothes and all types of other crap that kids want and not have much time to come online and help "kids" pick out an intake and exhaust LOL For the time being, I have the time, I love the JBO and am willing to help people who know less than I do without ridiculing them and keeping this place as positive as possible.

MINION, I just want to say that I hope there will be more people like me, you, stevefire, 02turbo, BBALLJAMAL, Roscoe & Jcavi to join this site because we actually care about what goes on here. Of course, this is the internet, you can't take everything so seriously but I like to be apart of something positive and useful, otherwise I wouldn't waste my time.

That is all...

I try and help with the ecotec as much as I can because believe it or not, through trial and error, talking with people and learning myself I have accumlated a great knowledge of the motor and the J platform as well.

Some people dont like me and track me down in my posts to start @!#$, I won't name names but THEY know who they are.

Fetter and I went off on eachother for a while in a post by me a few weeks back, but we both apologized IN the thread and talk daily on AIM now and ask advice from one another. I dont care who has the FASTEST J motor, well I do a little but not to the point where I fly off the handle if someone says differently. All I care about is that WE, as the J Platform are FAST. That way WE as a team can make our platform known and respected.

But as someone stated for 1 good person there is 10 if not more stupid idiots luirking behind.

I have been going to York, Pa a few weekends now and have raced a few cars and from word of mouth have earned the rep of "Having A Beast Of A Cavalier" this coming from a guy who drvies a modded slp firehawk (I,E,Brakes) because I was side by side until we shut down, other people have heard this and when I come down they come and talk to me about it. This makes me happy because people are recognizing what the J Platform can do with a little TLC...

I hope that I can help in the future and i hope I can make the Boost Forum better..

NJHK, I too have a higher tolerance for the comments that get thrown around. Its easy enough to weed out the negative, and not take any notice.

So true, if anyone's had a hard time gaining respect in the sport compact scene, its been the j-platform. As a whole I think there are still people on this forum that care, and don't have a problem answering a few questions here and there from newer members. We should continue to support one another, and set differences aside in the name of improving our knowledge base.

i agree with minion here thought, i;ve only been here like a year and it has gotten worse since i have joined. Although the info is still here, if i need to know something i know who knows the answers and i know who will answer them without me having to put a flame suit on. i don't like to mention names but in this case i am going to, between people like NJHK and Spotabee you can probably get just about any advice you could probably need, and if they don't know they know someone who does. Not saying they are the only ones, just namin a few. Honestly if you look, the guys giving out good honest advice and the people asking honest ?s aren't the people getting flamed... just my 2 cents...

As long as things stay on topic, and people stick to facts and theory (leave opinions out of the performance forums), everything would be okay. If you think your car's faster let Wild Weasel (I think it is) over in the racing forum know, and he'll put you on the list accordingly. Just leave it out of these posts. I agree that anyone showing an intent to pick a fight or antagonizing in general should have their account suspended or whatnot, as it gets kind of tiring having to read through all the bs to get to any decent info in some of the posts that get out of hand.
In the end, we have general, off-topic,and the war forums for a reason.
