boost, power ummmmmmmmm nope

as some of you know ive been boosted for about a month and ive been really upset with my overall output. 9 PSI, FMIC, FMU, SAFC-3, injectors, pump check my info if u wanna see the full setup. thats the jist of the parts... i put down 188whp and 213 TQ...now yea some say those numbers they would be happy with but im not cuz ive seen people with 7psi on the org put down more....i do have minor minor detonation at 89octane so i ran 93 thats pretty much taken care of the only thing i can think of is my exhasut set up, i mean that power should be alil up there...i kno somoene at 7psi gettin TQ steer in 3rd shiii i dont get it in 2nd at 9psi....neone kno oh and as far as exhaust i havnet gotten around to it yet but its stock with a muffler yea yea i kno kbut the place that did it said it was cat back charged me for cat back but then ripped me one when i found out it wasnt so i have my 3" DP into the stock exhasut..

my friend had a turbo honda it was a nice one, he was at around 16 psi and he said he bought the DP dump and took of his intake and it helped a lot for some reason he lost power even with his 3" exhaust and the intake...i might do that but neone have input it would be great...thanks sorry for the long post

Well actually, if I were you, my concern would be fuel. What is your A/F Ratio? Just by your ratio being off, that could be your loss in power.

yup sounds like you need more fuel... and you'll want to always run premium in that if you are boosting... detonation is not good

I put down 204 whp and 240 tq at 8 psi so dont feel so bad, although I had problems I know I had to work out, 2/4 are worked out now

............... 188whp in a 2.4 turbo ???

..... I got 222.3whp in a 2200 turbo at 10.5 psi.......

something is going on here.......

you have major tuning issues !!

your exhaust is choking you. you may have some other issues but that exhaust (especially going from 3in piping to 2in piping) is killing any exhaust flow you had going. put on a 3.5 or 3in exhaust and then try and tune it.

I was just going to say exhaust. its well known that back pressure is the killer of turbos so open it open and I think youl be surprised.

QBE- your TQ is amzing though TQ is good tho so dont feel bad...as far as fuel im straight i have a pump injectors and im rich right now...

as far as fuel and detonation i kno i always run 93 and still have some minor det so my ? is ignitino what can i do...imma try exhasut set up but im still alil pissed i guess its trial
im thinkin my problems are:
-ignition (still stock)
-exhaust set up
-minor Detination (which really cant do to much cuz im already runnin 93)

nethin or ideas other then that if so list the parts...tryin to get the max power...
thanx

Better flowing exhaust.

Has the head ever been off? if so the cams could be ever so slighty out of timing and hurting you. I would go for a 2.5 to 3 inch exhaust first then try a set of cams.

what size injectors?

what fuel pump?

what was the a/f ratio?

with your set up you can fine tune it alot.

you say you have fuel mods "so plenty of fuel"...
I think you probably have too much fuel, hurting porformance.
And obviously the 2" exhaust is a killer too (waiting for Hahn to come into this with his 400whp 2.25" exhaust though )

First off, I wouldn't go with that boost activated cut-out. They only open up when you are already in boost. That doesn't help you with turbo lag at all. Just do 3" exhaust with as little muffler/cat/resonator as you can possibly do. Usually it sounds aweful at idle (and pure sex while driving) but that is one of the prices for speed with a turbo car. Second, I'd get a different intercooler. Bar and plate is soooo much more efficient than tube and fin.

time for a better flowing exhaust and a good tune on a WIDEBAND.

yea im going with a custom 3" back...as far as a tune on a wideband thats what we did, but we also richened the mixture after our 11.8(some times alittle above 12 and alittle under 11.8) a/f to make sure we didnt lean it out...i kno its rich all the time i can smell it i think ill take away alittle fuel do the exhaust...but what should i do about detonation...not much we can do for our cars

There's plenty you can do to help prevent detonation. First, look into a MSD DIS system so that you can pull a little timing, then consider water/alcohol injection.

retard timing

ALWAYS run 93 octane or better. putting 89 in a turbo car is asking for trouble

and open up that exhaust.

9psi on a 2.4 should be like 230hp territory
