fuel pressure.
Thursday, November 03, 2005 6:04 PM
my stock fuel pressure is at 55 psi at idle and 60 wot. im sure this is normal for a z24. my question is this enough for turboing my car using a 12:1 fmu and not upgrading the fuel in anyway. i dont wanna destroy my car from not having enough feul.

no u need more than just an fmu, pluss 12:1 is to much ur pump will give out. invest in atleast an in line pump, injectors, and a smaller ratio fmu. if need b at the very minimum injectors and smaller ration fmu

i dont plan on running more 6-8 psi for now. 55 and 60 fuel pressure isnt enough?

Get injectors and a FMU .... get ford red tops and a Cartech adjustable fmu.... so you can fine tune it.... you might also want to get s AFPR to get the base pressure perfect....

i also have an adjustable fmu and fpr that i wasnt sure about using because ive heard they are hard to tune. how hard is it to change injectors and how much fabing to get the ford ones to fit.

You need to get new o-rings if you get the injectors used. and you need the ford clips to splice into the wiring harness of the cavi..... injectors are a snap.... literally.....

oh and adjustbing base pressure is hard before you get the car started.. one you get the car started it's all about feel...... and sound and idle......... with the red tops you should probably be just lower then stock for your base pressure... so if your AFPR comes with a guage ... which any good one does... you can see how much pressure... and try 46 psi or 48 psi and see if it will idle with the bigger injectors... or if you get safc-2 ... you can set base parameters

ugggggggghhhhhhh. i just feel so overwhelmed with all this fuel stuff. i have $2000-$2500 of turbo parts at the house and i dont understand any of this fuel stuff. i just want to run around 6-8 psi and not tear anything up. i dont want to spend an arm and leg on more stuff just to get this thing up and running. i do have to fmus, no injectors or anything else besides a msd dis II.
