Ok sometimes my car wouldnt start. It would turn over but it wouldnt start. Wait 15-20 min and then its good to go.
So i my spark plugs kept needing to be changed. Well i checked the fuel pressure and its at 80 PSI. The shop that tuned it turned it up that high so that i would get a great fuel to air ratio. Well they changed it bye changing the FMU. And now it seems to be stuck at that.
So my question is ......... what will 80 PSI do to my engine and turbo (hahns stage 2). Will anything big start to brake down. And is it possible to get the FMU stuck?
Thanks guys for the help cause if you cant tell im kind of new at this
Jason
mine is ALMOST at 70 during full boost.. just turn your fmu down a bit, thats all
if you're way to rich for a very long time you could get cylinder wash down or just keep fouling plugs and gunk up the valves and stuff

No he means 80 psi at idle
I have the same setup and i checked his pressure for him.
I think the shop that tuned his car cranked down his BEGI
fuel pressure regulator so far that it jammed at 80psi.
I can adjust mine with the same setup but when i attempt
to adjust his it will make no difference at all. I cranked it all the way one way and
all the way the other with no change. I dismantled the regulator and made
sure the disc wasn't jammed or that that seal was good and everything looked
fine to me. So its nothing i can see but i'm pretty sure they they
f'd up his fmu and that he needs to have them replace it.
oh and originally his plugs did have to be replaced and they show signs of
being far to rich. black buildup everywhere.
in the fmu under the rubber diaphram there is a .003 metal shim. It is probally dimpled out and not letting the fuel out. I have had it happen to me. so just replace the shim and he should be good to go. Don't go thicker than .003 cause it will cause you to get even more psi under WOT.

Thanks dude ill look into that.....................BRAD
Hey i thought the shim looked the same as mine but he could be right so i
would say our best bet is to recompare them now.
Your talking about the shim attached right at the diaphragm right?
comes off with it?
and i still say that shop f'd it up
sounds like they did... try to get them to pay for a new fmu... but 80 is WAY too high for idle, thats what im seeing at 8psi of boost. youre just gonna end up fouling plugs, crudding up your engine, and maybe putting a little too much stress on your injectors and fuel pump.
Yeah take the 4 allen head bolts out of the bottom of the FMU and there is a rubber diaphram and then under the diaphram there is a .003 shim. It sits right on top of the hole and then the diaphram sits on top of it. If the adj. screw gets screw down to tight it will dimple the shim and not let the fuel out. Hope that makes sense and i can about guarantee that is your problem. Like i said i had it happen to me twice. After the first time i put a .004 shim in and could get almost 100psi. So if your car is tuned with a good AFR don't go with a bigger shim

just happened to me. i was hitting 100 + psi at idle. i'll post pics in a sec
here you go. you can see the dimple in the shim.
^^^ thats exaclty what i was talking about. Thanks for posting pics paco so they could better understand

hell, thanks for posting your experience, now i can stop scratching my head too.
Well as long as i helped someone out
I'm guessing you read this thread before it happened?

yea, the day before it happened

hey jason, if they try and charge you dont do it, i have the shim at work and im changing mine today. i can pick up some extra shim and we can take care of it this weekend. let me know.
Interesting....When I had my car at the dyno (Hahn Stage II), in order to get a decent air fuel ratio we also had to kick up the base fuel pressure to around 80psi.
Is there anything besides getting larger injectors that we can do to solve this? Or do we have to get larger injectors and a different fuel computer of some sort (emanage?)
zack there ordered me a new one for free but how much do you want for the extra one you have
Yea thats is why my fuel pressure is up soo high. To get that good air to fuel ratio. Well because of that im going through spark plugs. See if you can turn yours down. Mine wont go at all. ITs stuck at 80psi
Larger injectors is what you need. I'm almost sure of it.
I'm working on that myself.
jason, all i have are the shims. shims = inexpensive = no payment. btw, just got done from driving mine around it drives really well now. later.
well call me tomarrow or tonight or stop bye anytime tonight or anytime after 10am tomarrow
