Hi, I have a cavalier 2.4 Liters z24 and Im about to put it a t3/t4 .63 trim turbocharger with an external waste gate of 40 mm and a spring of 11 psi, also have the blow off valve and a front mount inter cooler. For the fuel system i have a fuel pump walbro 255, fuel pressure regulator, 4 RC 320 injectors. The engine have stock interns and stock compression.
I was wondering if i can manage the fuel settings with a S-AFC 2 without having problems of detonation?
Yes you can manage the settings with an SAFC. However, the SAFC tune is all RPM dependent, not off fuel pressure. And you can't retard your stock ignition timing back for that high of boost. Personally, I would see running 11 psi at 9.5:1 compression on stock ignition timing to be dangerous. My best recommendation for you is to either go the route of an Aeromotive adjustable fuel pressure regulator for fuel pressure at idle, and a Vortech FMU which adds fuel pressure when it senses boost. This still will not retard your timing however. If you wanted timing control, you should go with a more tunable system such as Greddy E-manage or Megasquirt. You could quite likely experience detonation at full boost in high RPM's on stock ignition timing.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
Sounds like your on the right track. Keep it a little rich at high rpm and when you can afford it get a msd set up to retard timing. Get some colder plugs, NGK or Denso Copper. You should be ok for a while like that. Wise move would be to get it proffessionally tuned. I dont care who you are or what you know, without equipment telling you how the car is behaving your not gonna get a good tune. The a$$ dyno just doesnt work.
the new greddy emanage ultimate is the way to go these days i hear...
