From what I've read online boost spike is pretty common with manual boost controllers. I have the TurboXS High Performance Boost controller. I have about a 2-3psi spike.
I was wondering if anyone knows any little tricks to help minizmie the spike or if its just something I need to live with? This particular model has a bleed type aswell as a ball and srping adjustment. My thoughts were that if I open up the bleed more, the wastegate will see more initial pressure therefore it would be able to release the air quick enough to keep a steady boost pressure. However it doesn't seem to work that way. Thanks.
Sometimes boost spikes like this can be caused by using too long of vacuum lines to the MBC. The lines should be a short as possible that you'll still be able to access the adjustment knob.

Thats funny, I just took my turboXs HPMBC off my car cause no matter how I installed it it just over-boosts...I have a 7lb spring in my wastegate and when I have the MBC on as low as it goes it spikes all the way up to 12+(NOT GOOD) so I guess its back to just running springs for now.
Failure is not failure if you learn from it

Yup. Or you can dish out money for an electronic boost controller. I <3 the Greddy Profec B

Does it spike w/o the controller? Sometimes boost spikes can be caused by too small of a wastegate (or associated pipe/flange/whatever)...

It never spiked before I got the boost controller.
^^ with my 8psi spring before i put the controller it, it would it 10psi if it was ice cold at night.
now i have mine set to 13. he hits 15 when i punch it and drops back to 13-14.
13 psi and climbing......
my pos crap turbonetics mbc is going bazerker. I have a 8psi wastegate and it would sit perfect at 6psi after intercooler loss. I install this thing and up it to 10psi and it doesn't know where to go. It goes from 6 to 10 to 12 then to 6. I thought it was too long so I install it right next to my actuator and it did the same thing.
Will an electronic controller eliminate this for the most part>??????????
