I am really wanting to boost my car but will have to save $$$ first.. My car is stock right now and i am wondering what upgrades i should do that wont have to be changed when i go to boost. Example...go straight to 2.5 exhaust. would i have to change air intake? just trying to not waste money.
thanks
JUST save up, don't buy anything. Anything you buy now is just going to make it take longer to save up. if you HAVE to buy something now, pick from the following:
upper/lower engine mounts
tranny mounts
control arm bushings
pulleys
These can all be used with whatever turbo setup you want, or supercharger, or NA.
Any other 'bolt-on' part probably won't be compatible (or at least not optimal--i.e. intake, header, exhaust, TB, and whatever else you kids can pick up off ebay now).

Or....
buy a turbo manifold, and a turbo, and some piping and an intercooler and a bov and an fmu and injectors and an oil feed and return kit.... etc....... and part the kit together until you have EVERYTHING you need...... please realize........ this might take a year..... it took me 9 months................ just buy what you can afford.... so save 600 for a turbo... save 250 for a manifold save 500 for an intercooler and piping... save 200 for a bov... you know
just part it together take your time and be patient... you'll be much happier with the result !!!
Good luck

I spent over a year on my first setup, but a lot of that was research because only a couple (if that) people had done it before, and there was no such thing as a turbo manifold for a J then.
Since that, I have 2 1/2 years into the current setup, and still a good year left
Also realize that 99% of the people on here saying they're going to do it...well, they don't...and there's a good reason for that. Don't get in over your head.

yes as "no tec" knows... I spent countless hours researching and developing a system that would work well with my 2200.... figuring out CFM ratings of my head plus the added from my turbo.... I went to a lot of shops and ask LOTS of questions..... and thats just one minor aspect....... not to mention a fuel system to support boost..... the suspension... tranny.....
It took me as I said 9 months to get together a kit piece by piece..... if your don't have the time the money or the enthuseasum(spelling it's late) to complete the project then don't....
and realize... once you turboit.... it's like $50 a tank..............
so you have some decision making to do ............
Make them wisely so you don't get 4000 in debt...... cuz turbo will do that to you ... haha
good luck

I'm going on a year, and it'll be a year and a half of research and buying parts before I'm finally ready to boost the built engine.
She's ready to go to the machine shop. The haltech's in the mail, now all i do is wait til spring
I would spend these next few months studying and researching such a project.
