lots of power-no boost?

i have a 03 cavalier and it would be helpful to know how i can get a lot of horsepower with out boost? if i got a supercharger and intercooler would my engine be able to handle it? or would i have to get some internal stuff?

an s/c is boost, sorry to burst your bubble, haha. if you want alot of power, i'd suggest either getting nos (and i'd suggest some engine work for that) or going n/a with alot of internal work. but no matter what, you're going to have to do extensive internal engine work if you want alot of horsepower.

No matter SC or turbo an eco can reliably hold 250WHP stock. Keep in mind that's with a good tune. The life of a motor depends on how well it's tuned, for the most part, and not exceeding what the stock setup is capable of. GM says our rods snap at 278hp, but it was never clarifed if that's crank or wheel hp.

its certainly possible

your baseline to the wheels is going to be anywhere from 120-130 pure stock

on the air intake side of things
62mm TB
3 inch intake pipe with a good K+N filter and as few bends as possible straight shot over into the fenderwell with battery relocated to trunk
DEI Cry02 system to cool down your intake temputure

Exhaust
Pacesetter Ceramic coated header
Magnaflow Cat
No Resonator (will be raspy but non restrictive)
Borla XS Muffler
All 2.25 inch piping

Engine stuff
RSM Crank Pulley
Eliminate Factory A/C system if the car has it and replace with the smaller drive pulley
RK Sport Upper Engine mount
RSM Lower engine mount
Prothane tranny mounts
MSD DIS 2 Ignition System
Patriot Stage II Cylinder Head w/cams installed machined to accept overbored pistons
MLS Head Gasket
Eagle Rods
Forged Pistons with Zero Gap Rings (.040 overbore) 11:0 Compression
APexi SAFC II Air Fuel COntroller
2003-2005 style Fuel Rail with adjustable FPR
Some PCM reflashing from J-Body Performance beacause the cams will generate codes possibly raising redline to 7500 also
Spec stage 1 clutch
Phantom Grip tranny insert
Fidanza Flywheel

I'm sure with all this @!#$ you can lay down some serious power and beat some boosted cars

richard, how much experience do you have with cars and auto upgrades in general? i'm not trying to be an a$$, so i hope i don't come off that way. i'm just curious.

and if you're serious about modding your car, read the Full Ecotec Build Guide in the performance forum. adam (aka NJHK Sexual Chocolate) wrote it and it has alot of things in there to help you get started. also, ask, SEARCH, and research as much info as you can before you touch your car (and thats if you're a newb or a veteran).

the engine from another dimension
Also, I sure wouldn't want to bore an Ecotec .040" over for the heck of it...

I'm with them...you have no idea how much work you're talking about here (not to mention that list is quite misleading)

Now, I'm curious, why would you put this in the BOOST forum?
