JBP has one. You also need also the O-ring kit (have fun with that @!#$ man)

DONT buy it from JBP, its a total rip ... you can buy one direct from SCE for about 75 bux shipped to your door. JBP charges 125+ship (yep US)

I don't know if they carry one for the 2200, but Cometic Gasket may be another source.

Dont forget, you also need to actualy either o-ring the block or the head.....

Karo brings up a good point, O-ringing is a great way to take advantage of Copper's sealing tendencies and soft condition.

Keep in mind...copper is not the best choice for a street car. It requires constant retorquing of the head to maintain proper tension on the head bolts, for it's so soft its constantly compressing. Every heat/cool cycle of the engine (and you'll see a lot of them in regular street use!) takes away a little tension as the head and block expand and squeeze harder on the gasket, then release as they cool.

Pure race engines that see less cycles, and are disassembled often, are better suited to copper. Coolant leaks are also a constant spectre with copper...again, less critical on a race motor that lives 1/4 mile at a time.

Well for us 2.2 guys retorquing the head is a matter of about 15 minutes

Also, Adler ran his daily and didn't have any significant problems

But buy from SCE directly, don't buy from JBP

Then go to your machinist and have your fead or block o-ringed before install

Also, I think JTuners also sells a copper headgasket

OK so let's talk 2200 head gaskets. Because i see your point with copper and I really don't feel like o-ringing. Cometic does custom jobs don't they?

I believe you need a minimum order (or I guess you could just shove a crap-load of $$$ at them). I remember them taking quite a while for the 2.4s...
I'm pretty sure JTuners is already in the process though.

I really hope Jtuners gets some MLS gaskets that do not require o-ringing.

I used the copper headgasket from Cavalier Connection/Jtuners on my motor for around 12,000-15,000 miles daily driven without any problems. I was even too lazy to retorque the the ARP studs . I did have the block o-ringed.
There was a little bit of oil seepage on the back of the block, but it wasnt bad. It just kept the back of the block looking shiney . The seeping was so minumal that the oil level was never low.
There are 3 other local j-bodies who have ran copper headgaskets on their built turbo motors without really any problems. Mike Karas (turbo 2.4) and Curtis Walker (turbo 3.1 V6) both used a copper headgaskets with barely any coolant seepage on the outside of the block. Aasryanth (turbo 2.4) is using a copper headgasket on his motor without any leaks. All three of those cars are daily driven.

Cometic now has a 2200 head and block for production of a MLS headgasket. If I were you, I would wait until Cometic's come out.

MLS gaskets do not require Oringing. In fact if you already have a head and block that have been oringed(head) and reciever grooved(block) you can not use a MLS gasket. You would have to get an entire new block and head.

Which sux, since I would switch to MLS once they are available if I wanst already oringed.

adam emailed me saying they had a head and block at cometic.

I was under the impression that the 2200's/2.2's used different head gaskets?

If so, I am S O L

I think that Cometic already had a 2.2 block and head. If so, they have it for a while. I would think that the 2.2 gaskets are already done.

JBP has one but you must send out your block for an expensive o-ringing process... then us arp studs.... ( as sportabee said.... "good luck with that")

really? It was only about a month ago or so that they sent me the email.

when I emailed Cometic about a custom HG from them, they said they needed a minimum of 50 orders and 6 months of RnD.

I emailed adam again to see what the deal is on those

he means XX-97

I was going to o ring the block, but since jtuners has a head and block at cometic, I'll wait it out.

DSM guys use MLS gaskets and boost the hell out of their little 2 liter engines.

If you can hold off until cometic is done with their headgasket, you'd be better off..

thats my 2 cents.

I am a 96 2.2

It would definately help you if you knew the correct engines/years
94-97 = 2.2L (and 93- to a point)
98+ = 2200
Also, you need to chill out if you want people to help you around here. It had already been said that there aren't any MLS gaskets in production, and you can always use a copper gasket with an o-ring job...what more are you looking for?
