Wet Center turbo vs. oil cooled/lubed
Wednesday, September 28, 2005 8:29 AM
I was reading something about Wet Center turbos. Said that they are cooled by coolant. How exactly does this work...like fitting here, line goes from here to there...etc.

Thanks...

I cool mine by running it inline with the heater core lines.

They are just cool by the coolant. They still have oil lines for lubrication. Only some turbo have a coolant passage.

Does this make them superior to turbos that are non-water cooled?

"longer life" but I've seen eclipse turbo cracked everywhere and they were water cooled. My mercedez T3 housing is #1 and was not water cooled.

Keep the oil in the operating range and everything will be fine.

you can save your turbo by using a turbo timer or just letting the car idle for a minute or two after running it
