hey i just installed my autometer phantom non-vac 0-35psi boost gauge and it looks like if im in park and i rev it up it says 4.5 psi and while going down the road it goes to 6psi and creeps up to 6.5psi the faster you go, not too bad for the stock pulley i didnt think. anyone else seeing this much boost with the stock pulley?
I didn't think you were supposed to see boost sittin in park and reving the engine.....**Someone correct me if im wrong**
What do you have the gauge hooked into(Vac line?)
6.5psi is pretty good....I'm seein 5 psi for a few minutes then it gets hot and goes down to 4-4.5.

yeah the boost gauge is hooked to the fpr (vac) line. if you rev the car up to where it just about hits the rev limiter (4grand in park) my gauge goes up to 4.5 psi but going down the road getting on it its showing 6-6.5psi and its 73 degrees out right now so maybe tonight when its cooler ill see 7psi, ill keep it posted.
uhh u shouldnt see boost while in park, either the guage is broken or not hooked up right

um, does someone have a legit answer to why cant you see boost in park?

I can boost when in neutral/clutch pushed in....no reason you shouldn't when in park.....

you have a manual, he has an automatic, 4,000 RPM rev limiter is a pain. Doesnt let the bypass valve close.

When you rev it fairly high really quickly from idle, you can hear the blower make boost...but I never looked to see if the gauge actually moved.
RPMs dosent determine when the s/c makes boost.....
hit the gas hard enough in any gear (even N and P) at any RPM and youll see boost.
ive seen a solid 7psi 2 seperate rare occasions. other than that its 5 all day. 6.5 is believable for sure.

i see 4-5 psi. more towards 5 psi with the water injection hooked up.
6.5psi seems aweful high for the stock pulley.
in neutral revving it up a little i heard the s/c make noise.
anyone hit boost in reverse ? i never tried it. haha
i see 4-5psi, the odd time in 4th i see a tad over 5.

Boost in reverse is awesome! Haha, yeah I've done it before, sad enough.
Why would you put in a 0-30 psi boost gauge?
I put in a 30 inHg - 15 psi boost/vac gauge knowing full well I'm never going to see 15 psi. Doesn't seem to make sense to get a gauge with such a big range if you're never going to get to see the needle move.
Having a lower range will let you see with more accuracy exactly where it's at.
i have a 30 psi boost gauge ---
i bought me a 270 deg sweep 0-15 psi boost guage

0.
I expect that to change once my fitting, tee, and vacuum hose shows up in the mail...
I know this ia for S/C's... but I have a 30 in/hg - 20 psi and I sit around 20 in/hg at idle.....
With this smaller range I see the boost gauge move much more..... way more accurate !!!
Thanks

im building a 2.4 for turbo right now so i can use the gauge for it also when its finished. i didnt want a gauge with vac so i got a boost only gauge. the amount of boost the gauge says has nothing to do with accuracy, its always gonna display what your boosting at nomatter if the gauge is way to high for your amount of boost your pushing.
its nice to know ur vac, i was running a 0-35 for a while and i switched over to a 30inHG-15psi gauge and it recognizes boost quicker to the gauge. seams more accurate

i know im not wes but i have 20 inHG at idle, 10 while driving/cruising at a steady speed, and it bumps up to 25 under deceleration.

I have a 20 psi Gauge... never intended to go past 7-10... mine touches 15 all the time.... whoops.
-20 HG at idle and -22HG on deceleration, -10 HG when just moderately cruising and anywhere from 1-15 on the boost side of things if I add a bit of throttle via the fun-pedal.
Some days, though... I look at this boost thing and wonder why I even bothered at all. Lesson learned: Buy a stock car with boost - being a hero and designing your own higher boost kit just doesn't seem worth it a lot of the time.

Slowly but surely may some day win this race...
Put in my line today.
Just took it for a test drive around town to see it work and it got up to about 5 psi under load, around 18 inHg at idle, and I think around 20 inHg under deceleration.
I'll pay more attention next time I go for a longer drive, but looking at the other posts here, it would seem that it's about right. I could barely connect the nipple adapter to the end of the nylon line though and am reasonably convinced that it's not the same threading so I was worried I might get a leak through it.
