dropping compression?

I know there's a bunch of stuff goin round about dohc and ohv, who cares its what you can afford. anyways i have a 97 2.2 ohv cavy. i have all the parts i need except a boost controller, prolly go to the hardware store and make one, either that play at work someday at oreillys.

Basically i want to run 5lbs non-intercooled until winter when the cars put up, then ill get the time and money to get some piping and a decent intercooler. I would really like to drop compression down to 8's but chances of that without dished pistons arent looking good, ive heard somthin bout a head shim, call me retarded if you want, i grew up round 350's so this whole boost things new to me. if there is one where can i find one, or do you guys know other ways to drop the compression down, thought about some head work, just looking at options. turbos a 42 intake, 48 exhaust yes its small, ima puss...

let me know what u guys think, im runnin cartech fmu

96 Camaro A4 383 12.5:1, E85, Full suspension, Nitrous outlet plate kit, hooker headers and catback, 3800 circle D converter.

2002 Silverado LQ4 6.0 CAI, Long tube headers, 4" exhaust

1996 s10- 97 ECU and wiring, soon to be boosted daily driver.

listen thats you can get a BRAND NEW full custom FMIC kit for 500 CDN.... spend the money and run 10 psi..... you won't be sorry............

and if you build the motor enough and leave the compression up you will produce more power..... but remember.... more compression means more strain..... it won't blow if you get forged bottom end....... and a nice top end........ but forget low compression just for more boost..... run couple pounds less and have a higher compression for more power per stroke..... because the forced air is being forced into a smaller spot... thus.... larger more powerful explosion.......
