Boost retard question

So ive got this nifty little MSD ignition, and ive been programming in the boost reatard curves. Well it occured to me that im not quite sure how much i should retard it. So i made a pretty simple curve starting at like 0.5 degrees at 5psi to 3 degrees at 10 psi. I'd like some opinions on that if any one knows what a good retard curve is, for i have no clue! 3 degrees seems like a lot, but hell i wouldnt know.

i cant properly answer your question since i dont know what engine or car really were working with here but i can leave you with one imporant piece of advice. to much retard can be as bad or worse then not enough. you dont want to send anymore burning fuel / air mix out of the exhaust then you absolutely have to. if you search google there are a few basic forumulas people have made up concerning this issue but it truely varies engine to engine. also consider geting an egt and wideband if you dont allready have them. exhaust gas temp is a good indicator of whats going on inside the chambers. its just as important to know as the afr when it comes to tuning for reliability AND power.
