Dyno in Detroit.....where????
Tuesday, September 06, 2005 10:03 PM
Well its dyno time, but I have a slight problem. Windsor, Ontario Canada ( 5 minutes from Detroit) has no Dyno's anywhere. So I have to resort to Detroit, the only problem is to find a place thats familiar with quad motors or distributorless ignition setups. Where did all ya'll (from Michigan area) get your cars dynoed?????
Help.......... need DYNO!!

Thanks

Karo suggested one of the best if not the best dyno in the area.

Chassis dyno with wideband o2 tuning.

Be sure to show up with your final drive ratio for your transmission. I'm not sure if he's dynoed a 2000 up automatic before. I also doubt there's any difference in the 4t45e transmissions but you never know. Look it up to be sure.

the auto final drive should be a 3.89 or in the high 3.8 range

Thanks for the info guys. Does anybody feel up to setting up a dyno day any time soon??? Anyway, I tried looking up my final drive ratio in my chiltons manual and no success. Anybody know off hand what it might be?? Thanks again.

Here's the price list for Payn

O2 fee $35.00
Set-Up fee $25.00
2WD No Tuning $120.00/hr
4WD No Tuning $150.00/hr
2WD Tuning $165.00/hr
4WD Tuning $195.00/hr
3-Run 2WD $100.00
3-Run 4WD $130.00

Figure a half hour's worth of running our car will cost roughly $120 after O2 and Set-Up fees. Definitely not worth it considering it's only a roller dyno. Here's Matt's prices for his chassis dyno at MRW:

$85 = 3 pulls with minor changes allowed between pulls.
$125/hr for the first 2 hours.
$100/hr every hour after 2.

Definitely a better deal considering Matt charges a flat rate if you're only looking at money. If that's not enough to convince you, a chassis dyno hooks directly to the hubs of your car....leaving tire traction and pressure variables out of the measurement. More accurate and cheaper.

Your final drive should already be in his system since we've had a couple 95 isuzus run through there. No need to get your numbers.
