Still Detonating?

Ok ive got a 1992 2.2ohc with a large turbo, 2 extra 19lb injectors, adjustable fmu, water injection,an intercooler, no thermostat with 14" fan(runs at 150-160), new coils, and cold plugs. The problem is that its detonating (or so i think) at 6psi when the engine is warm. With this setup i should be able to run atleast 12psi right? So far its running 15.4 1/4 with the 3 speed auto and now im wondering if i need lower compression pistons or an msd to retard my timing. I read a post earlier saying you dont need to retard timing if you have adequate fuel. Anyway since ive done the extra injectors and water injection the car behaves the same as far as when it detonates. Now i wonder if this is all the boost this motor can see. Any help will be great thank u.

I also have 92 with similar setup. I have a 12-1 fmu and was only running 5psi in first and spikeing around 8psi in 4th. So ya i have a five speed. I have front mount intercooler. Was running stock plugs gapped .35 and 93octance. no ignition retarding it never detonated.

matt i noticed in your registry that you have an egr block off did you boost with an egr before and if so did it make any difference. I did some research on egr's b4 and am under the impression at wot it will be closed and not make a difference. Another thing i fergot to mention is that i have 140k miles on my motor so carbon buildup might be playing a role, too i donno. Ive been running 93 and when i go to the track i use 100.

I had it blocked off before i boosted it. That was a long time ago. EGR actually prevent detonation I would definently try that
