The reason for a flex pipe is becuase of the motor moving under accelerating of WOT . When it starts to produce its torque curve the engine tends to rock, Having the upper and lower poly engine mounts will help keep the engine from rocking as much.
If it rocks to bad you can break welds in your exhaust system thats why the flex peice is in-line so it gives your exhaust pipe some play with the movment.
solid mounts are your friend. i ain't got no flex pipe.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
really because Id rather not buy a flex pipe now Im not sure. Deek whats your opoin.

A flex pipe is a must in the sense that for the price it costs vs the protection it offers.

i agree, I havenet had a flex pipe on my car since my turbo install BUT I would get one in-line ASAP. I have the poly lower mount only, and i dont ever gun it in 1st gear to avoid stress on the exhaust welds at the turbo. Untill i get my flex inline thats how i drive my car. (It sucks having the turbo on and cant WOT 1st gear for about 7 months now) +(
With the rubber hangers on the exhaust, it does have some play but flex pipe is deffinetly a must have.
ok you guys have convinced me.
