Do you guys think the Ecotec can handle
12 psi off the hahn stage 2 kit with a boost controller
without snapping anything. I'm considering whether
its worth it to attempt this while i'm installing
my safc2.

Anything is possible with the right fuel mixture. Personaly i wouldn't take it past 10 psi on stock internals. 12 psi isn't bad if you have perfect fuel mixture. Good luck.

thats what the safc 2 would be for.
I'm worried about the rods

or overboosting the super 16g

well im running 10PSI daily and 14PSI every time i go to the track. have easily made 35-40 passes on 13-15PSI and never had worse than a rich misfire.

Ok thats good to hear. I think i'm going to add
a boost controller set to 11 or 12 psi and my
safc-2 tuned to that setting. I appreciate your
input hypsy. I thought i had heard or you using a
boost controller on your car but wasn't sure and i
know you have a decent amount of contact with
hahn personally.

I've been running 10 daily and beating on it with no problem. I plan to turn it up to 12 or so as soon as I get my water injection kit installed.

as soon as i get my profec b ill be running 8 daily and 15-20 at the track
this motor is a strong beast and i dont think anyone will blow one up under 10PSI unless they go super lean. hell i made 197HP on a dyno pull where the car never went richer than 13.5 A/F. never showed any knock or pulled back any timing.

like i said....this thing is a beast

Well since i don't expect to go lean
at all and i have heard that all the internals
will hold well past 12 psi i feel pretty confident.
Thanks again for the input

We've run them at 12 PSI for dragstrip runs. We rate the system at lower boost for safety's sake, for 12 PSI results in some rather high fuel pressures that, over an extended period, could stress the injectors and fuel delivery system.

In our initial development, our 3000 pound show-Cav went 12.96 @ 12 PSI with just a Stage II turbosystem, cat-back exhaust, and the slicks off Darren's car (thanks man!). I methodically raised the boost in small increments on that car, and detected slight detonation @ 12 PSI with 93 octane, so I added some 100 octane unleaded for about a 50-50 mix. This handled the detonation nicely, and put that heavyweight into the 12's.

Since that time, several of our customers have also experimented with higher boost (more than 8-9PSI) with good results, but I must emphasize that it's best for short bursts (dragstrip-style), and watch that octane!

you're going to need something better than an SAFC to tune the perfect mixture to run 12 psi on stock internals for a long time. Sure it may work great for a year or so... but unless your tune is PERFECT, it's not going to last more than that.

An S-AFC can add pulse width at load points other than max load, but never at max load.

What it can do, however, is allow you to use larger injectors, which will deliver more fuel at the max load pulse width established by the ECM. It does this by allowing you to 'trim' away excess pulse width that would otherwise cause the larger injectors to create an over-rich condition at low and mid loads. But even this is, at best, a compromise, for at idle, these narrower pulse widths it can access are not part of the ECM's true load tables...they are in the deceleration portion of the fuel table, which is not well suited to being used under real load (even very light load, like idle).
