I was informed today that "after market turbos will mess up the engine". How truthful is this? I'm sure it is dependent on how the person who installs the turbo, knows what they are doing right? Plus the internals should be replaced with better ones. Which internals should I replace if that is necessary. I will probably be running a turbo system from jtuners or something that is recommend from this site. Any recommendations for 2002 2.2L non-ecotec? any suggestions on what internals should be replaced when boosting the engine?
Thanks,
untuned engines dont run long........
and Factory N/A engines cant take as much abuse as Factory Boosted engines.

Well first off, i guess the answer is both yes and no, yes a turbo will put more wear on your engine, but no your engine probably wont just blow up after a few thousand miles, that is, of course, if you know what your doing and do it right. I leave a lot of room for human error there. But if your going to build an engine from the bottom up, the problem kinda changes from what you should replace to what you can replace, some of the more hard to find parts can get a bit pricy. Hell i dont know of another company other then eagle that makes forged rods. So you can see how the market might be a little limited. If your going to go turbo, JTuners is a great way to go, but do your homework, figure out what your fuel set up will be and make sure you take the necessary precautions to avoid detonation. There kit starts off small, like 5 PSI, so you wouldnt necessarily need forged internals yet, you could probably run clear up to 10, but again, the higher you go the more likely something will break. Start off small, with just the basics to run safe, then go from there. Oh and the best advice i can give, is just expect something to break, cause eventually something will. It makes the process a little easier.
