any body have a IHI turo mani for a 96up quad4 ? if not does any one know where i can get ahold of one... or, what i have to get to fab one... ihi flange or sumthin? thanks
if it doesn't go fast, whats the point?
I have an IHI turbo that came w/ a T3 flange. Is yours different?
pics of my turbo
they can bolt up to a t3 flange?

most turbo manifolds have a T3 flange. Because most turbos included in aftermarket kits have a T3 flange. All the mitsu turbos do (except for the T25 but that is a baby turbo anyway).
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
so an ihi turbo will bolt up to the "log style" t flange? and are those manifolds off ebay somewhat decent?... im lookin for about 6-8 psi on my quad... are they good for it? (the manifolds and the engine)

if your IHI turbo came off of one of the 2.3L ford engine, yes, it will bolt up to a standard T3 flange. I'm unsure about any other IHI turbos. I wouldn't recommend running this turbo though. The IHI RB56 is a pretty small turbo. The twin cam opperates way out of it's efficiency range. If you are looking for turbos that come stock in other cars, look for a Garrett TB03 turbo. It would much better suit your engine. You can find them in turbo Saabs and Volvos. It is a VERY standard size for higher displacement four cylinder turbo motors. It will spool fast and make good power. Just beware of teh turbine housings. Pull off the elbow and check for cracks connecting the wastegate to the downpipe.

First, "log style t flange"........ IDK what you mean by that, unless you just mean the Turbo Flange, which is going to be a T3 flange (most widely used flange). Not all IHI turbos use the same flange, so you need to say what IHI model you have.
Second, you have a Twin Cam, not a Quad...... while both are loosly based off the same design, they are different engines. For the most part, parts for the Quad will not work on the Twin Cam (w/o modifacation at least)
Third, the manifold and engine will be fine on 6-8psi....... with the proper Turbo that is, and the fuel mods to go with it.

well i just say quad to generalrize... since its the original design and all... but anyway.... the ihi off a probe.... y would you say thats no good?...like, what kind of downfalls do you think id face using that turbo on the twin? because of it's commin off of a sohc to go on a dohc? or because of other things that i don't have a clue about? lol... minion. i understand you suggest the Garrett TB03 turbo, but y is that? are the differnces great? what are the two turbos characteristics that maek them good or bad for my engine? besides the obvious things like heat, boost surge, high comp, fuel, ect. or are those the reasons?

because of the flow rates of either turbo.......... what size is that probe motor? that turbo was chosen for that engine size, and flow caracteristics........ you need a turbo sized to your engine.
if you use a turbo that is to small, its going to be a ristriction when you get into the higher RPMs....... meaning your engine is going to be able to flow more air, then the turbo can move......... sure, you'll get boost right off the line, but its not going to help you after you get moving....... and the Twin Cam has plenty of low end power........
