I have a couple of boost related questions that are holding up my install and I was hoping you guys could help me with them:
1. Accel AFPR- how in hell is this thing adjustable? I think really missed something in pressure regulators 101 because it connects to the hard line, fuel rail and then hose to the throttle body/intake manifold but how is it "adjustable" ?
2. Along with the AFPR, I needed to install a pressure gauge and I was planning on tapping the fuel rail. I am pretty sure that the pressure will be pretty much uniform throughout the rail, but will adding this disrupt flow to the injectors?
3. I budgeted 100 for intercooler piping but every place I go to wants to charge a sh*t load for bends. My dad suggested using a type of rubber hose with steel mesh around the outside of it that is commonly used on heavy duty construction equipment to flow hydraulic fluid. I was kind of wary at first but pending what this stuff looks like would this be a suitable alternative to aluminum/steel pipe? I would still use pieces of pipe on the intercooler entrance/exit and coming out of the compressor, but maybe it would work for the rest?
I'm sure there will be more to come, but if anyone can shed light on this stuff I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.
Sorry #1 I can't help you with I don't have that model AFPR... but usually there is a screw on top to adjust.
#2 - I tapped mine near the regulator... basically tap it anywhere on the sending side of the fuel system before the regulator, it's evenly distributed.
#3 - Metal man... use metal. Go to Jegs for U-bends or find a cheap place online and find somebody to weld it for you.

Don't I need to tap it downstream of the regulator to know what my base pressure is after the raise/lowering by the AFPR?
Thats also what I said about the hose. We found more info on it and found out that the stuff is used on performance cars, but its also about 200 per 12'....so not really a cheap option. I'll keep exploring for a good deal on pipe. As far as the AFPR is concerned, I also though there was supposed to be a screw on the top. There is a hole and the more I look at it I think its threaded....maybe the screw wasn't in there to begin with?
Thanks for the help.
I found www.summitracing.com to be the cheapest for the U bends. Just cut and weld, or you could even use silicone connectors found at home depot in the plumbing section and just put them together like that until you can have them welded.
For number one, I believe it is the allen located on top.
For number two yes tap it on the fuel rail, I did between the 4 and 3 injector, and remember it will probably be pipe thread not normal thread when tapping.
Good luck

My suggestion:
I bought some piping on ebay for about 225 including shipping. it's 2.25" polished chrome. It came w/ a couple u bends, j bends, and long straight pipes. It also came with nice t-bolt clamps(which are better for boost applications than the regular worm gear clamps) and nice sillicone connectors. I think thats a good deal!
Whats the part number on your afpr? I have an accell on my eco and there is small black set screw in the end it. Use an allen wrench to adjust it. Works great for me.
On my eco I used 4 U bends. About $65 shipped from summit. Then about 2 or 3 feet of straight pipe. $10 from exhuast shop. Ive seached... you wont find cheaper.
I used radiator hoses for my charge pipes...held 9 psi fine, even with worm clamps

I'm heading over to summit tonight. Dumb@ss that I am.... I live like 10 minutes from their store in Tallmadge and had even checked into piping there and completely forgot that the u-bends were so cheap. My AFPR is Accel 74566 I believe. I'll check the allen wrench deal tonight. Thanks for the all the help.
Oh...and just for the record...I love you guys.
That must kick ass having a Summit store.

I love it but Summit >my bank account......its like an addiction to go by something once a week.
I have another question since we'll just make this post an archive of all my turbo problems. I have 42 injectors, but I'm having a hell of a time finding the clips with the wires so I can hook them up. I found a couple posts on them, but some guys made it sound like they'll swap right in and some made it sound like they are a hassle to install. One post contained a part number but when I priced it, I got like 15 bucks for each piece......any insight on this?
