What not to buy on the way to boost?
Monday, August 15, 2005 9:31 AM
So i have finally come upon the money to boost the Eco. MY question now i what not to buy on the way to BOOST.

I searched and read probably every thread posted everyday for the last 3 months dreaming.

So what other engine mods should i avoid in my pursuit of boost and what should i do in preperation?

Will i just throw away a CAI if i go boost? Cams, crankshafts and the like which ones to avoid and which ones to get?

I know there are tons of other things i am missing. But what do you guys wished you had skipped on the way to boost and what did you throw out after getting boosted.

I don't need no stinking SIG. Wait this is one.
DOH!

Don't buy high compression pistons, a header, or crazy NA/nitrous cams. A CAI you can always sell, and it's nice to have in the meantime. The key is to plan ahead what you want, and instead of buying NA mods, start peicing together your turbo kit and complementary mods.

Stay away from buying a header or cams. If you get a CAI you might be able to use the bends and piping as well as the filter with your turbo setup. Use the three stickies at the top of the boost forum to help guide you on your way. Good luck!

The stickies at the top are really good for what you need, but the ydo not go into what you should stay away from if your goal is boost. Personally if a CAI is going by the wayside with boost why waste 100-250 dollars on one.

So anything else i should stray away from?

If we get a good list of what to stay away from we can get it added to the stickies so people who know they wanna go boost don't buy unnecessary stuff.

Thanks again for you guys' time.
