2.2 Supercharger Reflash (RSM reflash) IMPORTANT!
Saturday, August 13, 2005 5:23 PM
okay people I have a very important question !!!!!!!!!!
I have 30 lbs injectors and I'm running 9 psi with a T3 turbocharger, I also have a supercharger reflash from RSM Racing. now They haven't been much help on letting me know how the technology works or what they do for tuning. But I am getting codes that are saying running lean during accel, running rich at idle during a drivibiliy scan with the OBD2 scanner.
I recently put in a cartech Adjustable FMU. however I haven't hooked up the vaccuum line yet because I wanted to know:

SInce the computer is controlling fuel and is obviously not giving enough so I'm leaning out can I mechanically via the FMU raise the fuel pressure to gain a proper fuel mixure while using the RSM Reflash ??????

I'm assuming that the reflash is some what the same for the GM S/C..........
so can I not if the computer can not compensate in time during random accel. get the FMU and mechanically raise it with boost pressure.

is my theory correct ???

yes, thats what an FMU does.......doesnt sound like the reflash took.....they should have used more glue. Sounds like all they did was put in bigger injectors since its rich at idle and lean up top.......

Doesnt the scanner read off of the primary O2 sensor and is really not reading a full wideband reading and is narrow like a normal A/F guage? its really not that accurate...i would really get a wideband and then start makeing assumptions about your setup.

okay so in final I can use the Cartech adjustable rising rate fuel pressure regulator WITH the RSM reflash. Anyone know what they actually do for tuning with the reflashes??
IS the timing Retard just "smartened up" in a sense that it retards fast and more to protect the motor ???????
How much is a decent wideband ???? I would be willing to drop like 150 on one.

Thanks for your help I will run the FMU today with the RSM computer with just a little fuel added and see how it pulls it seemed to kinda lag which leads me to believe that the codes were true.

Thanks !!

Lee

wide band = $300 or so for the full unit.

He's getting codes, not just reading the sensor....... so the sensor isn't to blame for the readings. (at least you wouldnt think so)

RSM's tune has always been on the lean side......... they say its plenty safe.

I can think of a few RSM cars who have blown/broke something. Just my personal opinion, but there reflash doesnt seem to be the best.

I have a stock computer in the front seat. do you guys think I should swap it in and get the fmu tuned and a wide band ??? would that solve my problem till I can afford SAFC-2 ??

just use the FMU with the reflash ECU, it would be better to do it that way. If the ECU is reprogrammed to controll those 310 injectors and its supposed to dump a little more fuel into the engine then thats a better start then with the stock ECU.
