Ok this post is sort of a mutation of my other one its different so I dont wanna hear any double posting bish. any who Does any one have a bit of a step list for changeing your internally gatet turbo manifold over to an external and what will be needed with the waste gate. To make it a bit easir on you guys. Am I correct I if I am under the impression that I am to buy a small tube (made from ?) then an external wastegate flange and have a local welder weld it on to my manifold. after that is done By a waste gate with a swing arm assembly and it should bolt right up to the turbo. also should I buy the swing arm assembly first becuase I wont know how far to put the flange.
Thanks guys I really need some help on this.

You got something mixed up. There is no swing arm assembly on an externally gated turbo. Im about to go change out my wastegate spring so ill take some pics that might clear things up for you.
^ what he said, swing arm assembly is basicly a internal wastegate thats on the turbo itself. Now since your going external wastegate you wont need that.
What you need to do to your manifold is basicly make a hole on the manifold and weld a flange on it like
this one. Actually what type of flange you use is determine by what type of external wastegate you use.
After you get your flagne welded on and you buy your wastegate and all is good, then yourll have to prepare the turbo for external as well. But this is simple, all your doing ....depending also what turbo you buy ..is buying a flange to attached to it, this flange is what your downpipe will be welded to. Example of one flange is like
This. Thats a ford style turbine housing tho. Depends on your housing. you might need that style or a 4 bolt style or whatever you decide to buy as your turbo..you wont know untill you buy.
hope it helps...
I dont know where my wife put the camera so i couldnt take any pics. Here is an internal wastegate turbo
internal the wastegate is the small round thing next to the compressor and the thing with 3 bolts sticking out of it in the 3d pic.
Here is a turbo where the external wastegate was removed
external note the 5 bolt exhaust flange. You need that flange deekster linked above to cover that small hole.
a turbo that never had an internal wastegate will have a downipe flange that looks like this
flange sometimes 4 holes
Do you allready buy the turbo?
thanks guys deek I owe you. any way, Ok so heres my understanding so far. for the most part as the external waste gate sees th exhsust gass useing the vac line. and so it seems that it does not need the swing arm for whatever reason. Ok so whys the internal need it. I dont think it really matters to much because I found the turbo I might buy and its not external I am teetertotering worse than a see saw.
turbo
What do you guys think, oh yeah it seems theres no vac line can I just get any old line?

Seems like you dont know what a wastegate does. It creates a bypass for exhuast gas around your turbo so it dosent make like 30psi. Its closed normally, it has a vaccum line attached. When it gets to its preset limit it will open.
I wouldnt use silicone vac line. It gets so hot under the hood with a turbo that it will get all soft and colapse. All of my vac lines are actually high pressure fuel line.
an internal wastegate uses a remote diaphram and the swing anr is to connect the "flapper" to where the diaphram is located.
on an external everything is housed individually, it has a similar design to a BOV where it has a diaphram/spring assembly hooked to a plunger asspembly. instead of moving an arm to move a flapper to bypass the exhaust, it uses the piston to bypass it.
That turbo is nice in your link Jcavi and would be ideal to use BUT it still lies a problem. The downpipe will give you a problem. Its facing one way and has no flexibility when putting on your car. It most likely will not run the exact way you need it becuase it looks like its a OEM downpipe . Now the swingvalve wastegate is built into the downpipe so...you MIGHT have to buy a swingvalve assembly. The actuator (canister with the arm sticking out of it) you should be able to use, But when you buy this turbo and start lining things up under the hood that downpipe may not work for you. IF it does awesome. if it dont then your gonna need to take it off and buy
this to take its place and then make your own downpipe like 100% of us do on the .org.
Yeah I am almost positive I am going to buy this turbo. as for my knowldge of wastegates, I didn't take that comment offensivly but I have a wee bit more knowdlge then given credit I understand that the waste gate is basicly a regulator of exhaust gasses to the turbine. just wanted to gratify my self a little.
on to business I'm going to probably going to be taking the dp off anyway look at it its more of a rederecter but at lesast I have the option thanks guys
