as some of you guys know i got the 2.4 proto type s/c , and while pulling the s/c stuff from the motor to put in my cav , i found these for injectors , i got no idea what hat GM pulled them from , its a good thing i got the production injectors already , lol

this is the # on the injectors 17124531

hmmmm. I would run them, and see how the car runs. Probably off a V8. I have seen some of GM's crate motors with out fuel rails on them.

Those injectors came off a 2001-03 HD pickup with an 8.1L.

8.1 huh ? they seam a little short for a 8.1 , but who knows , lol

i never had to change the injectors on a 8.1 when i worked at chevy

as far as running rich they are what GM used when the were testing the s/c out for the 2.4 , the other odd thing is the map sensor used wasnt a 2 bar , it was the stock 1 bar map

hmmm..... my dad is looking for a set of 8.1 injectors........ I guess he might be interested in 1/2 a set

Its weird you have that stock map in place of the s/c map........ also weird that my dad's work uses a 1 bar map on a boosted 8.1......... (RSM also uses the stock 1 bar map on their s/c reflashes)

The length of the injector is not directly related to flow rate (although sometimes there is a correlation). Your orifice disc and what ever specs the armature needle is set at (from the factory) determines both static and dynamic flow rate respectively. The orifice disc also determines spray pattern.

i wasnt saying they werent big enough flow wise

more so that it was odd how short they are for being on the 8.1

considering all the injectors ive seen , are taller and didnt make sense to make a injector that is close to 1" shorter

Witness TBI injectors rated from 60 - 90 lbs/hr each, often at 10 psi.

But it does... for packaging reasons. The 8.1 is the largest engine GM puts in a pickup. Anything that reduces the size of the engine "package" is a good thing.

I think the spacers are a cool thing. Prolly handmade by someone at GM powertrain.

You're correct. Injector size and flow rate are not directly related.

TBI injectors that fit the side feed 93-97 2.2 fuel rails are much smaller than any of the pfi injectors, but the smallest ones in terms of flow are rated for 52 lbs/ hr @ 30 psi.

I would hope that I am, or else I shouldn't be working where I work (@ a fuel injector plant)

They look the same as the 2002 ecotec injectors. They are the Multec 2 series that have the oval connector unlike the standard bosh style that is more of a rectangle. Also they are shorter and require those adapters.

ill post a pic of them this weekend , they are not the same as the 03-05 eco injectors

the 02 eco injectors are fat like the 98-older injectors with the 99-up small plugs
