What To Install First? GM SC/Cartech FMU/Apexi AFC
Monday, July 25, 2005 3:11 PM
Well I am going to be installing my blower finally and am not sure where to start, or what to install first. Here is my set up,

GM Supercharger Kit
Apexi SAFC 2
Accel Fuel Pressure Regulator (LT1 Corevette)
Fuel Presure Guage (Located on fuel rail)
255 LPH Fuel Pump
EGR Block off Plate
Cartech Fuel Management Unit
RC 320CC Injectors

So first thing first I will be installing my new fuel pump on thursday because my cus it letting me use his lift, then I am not sure where to go next. I was thinking of removing the stock intake Manifold/tb/intake first then doing the FP Guage/Injectors and then I am not sure what would make it easiest for me.

What have others done with similar set ups?

Thanks
Chris

I am going to do it all at once, but I am just wondering what would be easiest space wise, I assume the blower will be the last thing installed.

Kinda off topic man, but where did you get your EGR block off-plate?

Install, and test... install, and test... that's what I did.

Do the pump first..... then test.

Then the AFPR, gauge, and injectors..... then test for leaks and drivability.

Then add the FMU and test for leaks, drivability.

Then add the S-AFC and test it, set it up and make sure everything is good....

THEN put the charger on last, and start working with your fuel.

Trust me. Don't install it ALL at once... god forbid you need to troubleshoot a problem, man.

No problem. I don't see an issue with it.

im just wondering why you need so many things to control the air and fuel. My buddy has been running a cartech fmu set at 12:1 and an adjustable fuel presure regulator for like 2 years now on his 99 and still hasnt had any drivability or performance issues, he has the 310cc injectors, stock pump, and a 2.6 pulley as well, we drove it to maryland from NY last week and the thing got about 28mpg too so it cant be running that rich. Im not attacking im just wondering if its necessary for the apexi and 255?

Is the FMU necessary with the SAFC?

im wondering the same things? if you have the safc doesnt that take the place of the fmu. and cant you just run an fmu with an afpr and be fine? i know ive seen quite a few setups have those, im just wondering

No, the S-AFC doesn't add fuel with boost pressure.

You use the FMU to add fuel with boost and the S-AFC to tune the fuel curve according to RPM to flatten the curve out.

This way you don't get lean and rich spots in the curve, as most FMU's will do that to you.

also remember when hooking the fmu up to use high pressure fuel hose. .
