Eco M62 goes.... 14.5@98

New personal best tonight.... Still looking for improvement though as I'm still having a difficult time launching.

Anyways slip reads:

.1470........reaction
2.2479.......60 ft
6.2780.......330 ft
9.5269.......1/8 mile
76.12..........mph
12.2691.....1000'
14.5909......1/4 mile
98.26...........mph

Exhaust and supercharger pulley are still stock.... so far this setup is proving to be promising I'm sure with more practice times will drop, trap speed seems to prove that as well.

Jon,

VERY nice times. What was weather like? How humid was it? Around what time did you race?

Also, besides the GM Charger and a Lower Mount what else have you done to the car as far as performance mods?

Oh yeah at what RPM did you launch that sucker at? About 2000-2500 or so?

Karo,

According to Accuweather it's showing me 73 deg's at 11 PM (about when I ran) and 63% humidity. Just before this ran it started to rain but stopped. Almost everyone went home but we stuck around to see if they would open the track back up if it didn't start raining hard, which it did .

Only engine mods are the supercharger, a homemade intake/filter setup and a lower engine mount. Everything else that's done is suspension and my short shifter.

Currently I'm hitting 10 psi (I was running 8 at the bash but needed to adjust my bypass valve).

Most of my run's were 14.8 14.7's at around 95mph. I did one run after this one since the temps had cooled down but messed up the launch pretty bad. I was actually hoping to get a 2.1 60ft and drop it another tenth or two :p Maybe next time...

Your problem is not getting cooler atmoshpheric air or getting more horsepower, judging by your mile per hour times you have a high thirteen second car without modifying for more power.

It seems that if you can anyway cut your 60ft time to maybe a 1.7 or by hell or high water a 1.5 60ft, that will pull you out of the 14 second range into the high thirteens.
An LSD, B@M shifter, 235/55/14 BFG Drag Radials with light 14by8 steamrollers, urethane control arm bushings, urethane engine mounts, urethane tranny mounts, Spec stage 3 clutch with stock flywheel, quality drop springs and soft quality shocks up front. Thats a s#$t load of work but your not pushing your stock engine even harder to squeeze as much toothpaste(horsepower) out of the tube to dip in the thirteen second range.

Are you running the factory aftercooler system ( heat exhchanger, water pump, lines, etc ) ? If not, that might be the very next mod you want to run, I wonder how hot your roots charger is getting by the last gear at the end of the track. 180 degrees maybe @ 10lbs, hopefully nothing hotter that 210 degrees, like Yoda says

" Bad, that would be".

Reflash is only around $110, pretty cheap for a good tune.

Nice Jon! I was wondering what you ran at the track at the bash but I never caught you online. What are your plans for near future mods?

Did you install the intercooler yet? I'm sure it will help quite a bit if you haven't yet.

Karo,

I missed one of your questions, I launch at about 1500 rpm and ease into the gas. If I give it too much the tires just spin and wheel hop I think my best 60 ft was launching really low and going really easy on the gas for the first 25 ft or so. Slicks would help a ton.

I'll do some more suspenion work (control arm bushings, upper engine mount etc...) when I get the chance. I don't know what the intake temps are though but yes it is currently intercooled. I'm using an aftermarket heat exhanger but I'm using the filler neck from the redline in a similair location. Same water/coolant pump and all seems to be working quite well.

Thank you everyone, I'm anxious for the temps to cool down a lil more. I may try ice on the charger in the staging lanes next time I go. I have a lot of plans I would like to do, when money allows I will complete them. Exhaust and possible a small pulley would be nice to start with though

As for a couple pics, they've been posted before but here are a couple....

do you have the tans mount bushings in ?? id recomend those also

also if you could make a tank for a part of the intercooler system to sit in (like the resivoir) , and put ice in the tank to cool the intercooler coolant off it might work out also

that way you can cool the intercooler cyctem off easier , as well as making the pump for the intercooler on a switch so you can keep it on while the car is off
