t4 style?

I have a '97 2.4 5-speed, I have a friend who has a Garrett T4 that he's willing to sell me. Are these a good style for our cars? Spooling ok, stuff like that?

WEll let me put it this way, im going to be using a stand alone and reving it out to about 7500 just to use it. T4's are huge for 4 bangers. Some people will tell you that you are just plain stupid to consider the idea. But they arent as crazy as me and want 500hp are they? AHAH. Seriously the turbo prob wont get full boost till around 4000rpm. Not really a pratical turbo. If u dont plan on using it, how much is he selling it for, i'd like to buy it. Also what are the specs? Im intresssted.

Im not really sure about it, he's offering me a 12" front mount intercooler, a deltagate wastegate, a turbo x BOV, and the Garrett T4 for 300bucks. He didnt price them seperately. If you have a better sized turbo that your willing to trade, I'll go ahead and get it and we can talk.

ive actually mapped out a couple T$ turbos and our motor really isnt out of its efficency if you were to push 10-15lbs of boost. It depends on what trim.

so on a T4, if i where pushing higher boost, then it would be fine? I'll find out all about it tomorrow and get back...

oh yeah, this turbo was on a Honda Civic with a b16, so apparently it wasnt that bad, if it could spool it up..

Haha, those are COMPRESSOR maps for a reason, as they map out compressor efficiency. You'd have to be building a drag-only motor to use a T4 turbine housing, as they are WAY too big for just about any street-driven 4banger. compressor maps are only for compressors, that's why t3/t4 hybrids are so common, use a T3 turbine housing with a T04 (T4) compressor housing, then you might be able to spool it.

IMO J's running up to 15 psi on the street should probably be running the T3 super-60, as the flow seems ideal.

contact Precision Turbo and order a smaller a/r exhaust housing for that T4, and leave the compressor the same. figure out what compressor it is and post it up. i'd be willing to bet it's probably a 57 or 63 trim

I have a Brand new Garrett ceramic coated .48 stage 3 T3 turbine (hot side) housing for sale if you're interested.

I am running a straight T4, but I have 10:1 compression and will be able to spool it. I also have 8 35lb injectors and methanol injection to make it relatively safe at 10psi.
