anyone here running internal wastegates? im running the 5-8psi actuator that came with my hahn kit. im lookin to run 15psi next year with a rebuild. how hard/time consuming is it to switch to a 14-17 psi adjustable wastegate actuator? anyone here switched one before?
You dont need to switch to another wastegate. its easier and cheaper to just install a boost controller.
If you want to run 18 psi, it's not all in your wastegate. You'll probably want to change out your turbo unit for something more fitting for that kind of power level. If you have the supporting modifications to run 18 psi, then set it for 18, run 15 or 16, get your tuning good. Look into something from a .57 to .63 exhaust a/r T3/T04 turbo and about a 57 trim compressor. A T3/T04 would set you up for external wastegate, in which case I'd go with a Tial 38mm gate. For higher boost levels and more complicated tuning, I'd go with an electonic boost controller which is likely to spike. Check out Greddy Profec and some of the HKS units.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
Ok so can someone help me out with this? My wastegate actuator was adjusted so the wastegate was all the way open all the time. I have a turboxs boost controller hooked up to this so when I reinstall the actuator what should I adjust the actuator itself to? I have no idea what psi it is... should I set it so the flapper is just closed? Someone help me out here... I want to do it right and I don't want to risk boosting like 20 psi the first time i take it out.
Thanks (and sorry for hijacking)
