Without Resistor Trick Runs rich, after code throw
Monday, July 11, 2005 12:14 AM
...HEYY guys....woowww this resistor thing is reallly making me mad, my wideband is in now, and i went for sum runs tonite...started to tune it good, and then the wideband started actin up...started runnin RICHER and RICHER the more i minused fuel, then i realized i threw that damn CODE on the Emanage, so i realize once u throw that code on the emanage u run damnn rich like, 14 - 15 in boost, i was like BAHH, but i was wondering what i should do, continue adding differnt size resistors between the green and the orange wire????

when i add a resistor here, a 330ohm one, the engine doesnt even start uppp soo
i wasnt sure bout that
i might try the black?..but isnt that ground?

anyways anything to help...

you do know that 14 or 15 on a wideband is lean ?...

It sounds to me like the e-manage is doing exactly what you tell it. 14.7 is stoich (or a perfect mixture). anything lower than that is concidered rich. On my boosted motor I have it running at 11.5:1 at Some say that's a little rich, but i'd rather be safe. I definately wouldn't go any higher than 12.5. But if you're running anything higher than 13 at full boost your days are limited. good luck with the tuning.

That alone should immediately tell you that you screwed something up with the wiring.......probably on the e-manage and not just the resistor.

SOoooo on my wideband, all the way to the right, like to the 20 is rich...and from 14.7 to 9 er 10 er watever is lean right....soo not in boost you want to be around 14.5 to 15, and then soon as u hit boost, u want it at 11.5?..er 12?...er soo?....and if during boost ur at 14.5 ur too rich ...right?....haha

omg i had it backwards hahah thank god i was only runnin abit of boost LOL WOOOOO
that was a close one, but yah thanx guys, the resistor thing is a trip still tho

what resistor are you running and why. I have the emange and I am not running a resistor of any kind so I am kinda of woundering.

no, heres a rule of thumb. What ever the boost level is at then that number is what the air/fuel ratio should be at. (every one knows that you have to go by what psi you are running to figure out the right ratio) so if you are running 8psi then you should be around 8:1 if you are running 11psi then about 11:1. so id say if you kept the boost down low, say about 15psi then you should be safe with a 15:1ratio.

I hope that helps

sorry I like to be a d*ck sometimes. you have it backwards still.

in laymens terms:
the higher the first number goes then the leaner you are. the lower the first number goes the richer you are.

k i got the whole fuel thing figured out thats fine
but i got my resistor on, from the orange to the return or OUT of the emange signal wire
and i do a realtime display, and it shows out of 0.00volts and throws that damn code still
should i try with a smaller resistor to let more voltage out er wat
im not sure wat 2 do, if it should send more voltage into the emanage, or after its been in the emanage to the OUT wire
anyways i have a 330ohm in there and that code seems 2 get thrown more than it did before i had it...anyone?

The resistor goes under the hood, on the map sensor itself....

i cut the resistor off and it doesnt throw the code as much, i have the resistor between the signal wire going to the computer not to the emanage is that correct?..any other way the car doesnt start....im using a 330ohm and it seems to bring down the voltage instead of increase it abit, any ideas?
