back to square one... slow 2200 again.............
Thursday, July 07, 2005 8:02 AM
this morning i started the car and started driving............
good power like usual all of a sudden i hear a clink and then just metallic grinding
lost all of my boost..............

the car is still drivable.... but the blower is dead.............

tomorrow i will take it apart........ if it is to grim i am going to get my hands on a new engine and tranny i am thinking of a couple of swaps but i have a questions

quad 4 w41
1) is it compatiable with the 4 speed auto in my 2000 cav?
2) what other components are needed other than wiring harness...... and maybe mounts.... and a computer?]
3)obd 1 or 2?

quad 4 ho
1) is this engine obd1 or 2?

3800 series with supercharger
1)does anyone on the org make mounts?
2) how much is involved????

2.4 quad 4
1) do you think this is the best option?

2.2 eco
1) do they make a supercharger yet for this engine?

or should i go over to a turbo? and continue to boost the same engine.... it does have 118k on it

you haven't had the supercharger that long have you??
what happened to it?

i'd say swap to a 2.2 eco and turbo it. that engine likes boost and has much more potential than the others

Yeah i would either keep what you got and turbo it, or swap in an eco and turbo that, and not waste money on the GM S/C kit if and when it ever comes out.

an eco swap will be the same difficulty as the 2.4 but the others will have more to account for. quad4's are great engines but the aftermarket support of the eco maybe the greatest factor in the choice now. what i dont get is why would i trade my FWD car for a newer more expensive FWD car. in your case you might want a coupe, but i had a coupe so it would have been a wash for me. if they made the SS cobalt AWD then there will be no question, but until they do i can deal with a 2.0 eco swapped J for less than 1/2 the $$. they are VERY nice cars but they are also almost 500lbs more.

Sven you totally quarterloafed your computer..

heres a question, ecotec in a 2002 LS sport (dads) 70,000miles or my LD9 2000 with 35,000, which would respond to boost better?

Sux to hear about the car. Also, now is the time to buy since GM extended their GM employee discount program.

If you need a 2.3 or 2.4 I have a few Well I have one 2.4, and the one 2.3 is a W41 and the other is either an HO or W41, have to tear the motor apart and check the pistons and cams to see for sure... one of the 2.3's is goin in my car though... my friend might have found me another 2.3 HO also...
