2.6" pulley on and no knock even with out alcohol?

Well i decided to put the 2.6" pulley on... and i went easy and watched my knock gauge and even when i just give it all it has my knock gauge doesnt show any knock at all.... shouldnt i be getting some since i dont even have my alcohol injection kit on? and with the air being sooo hot going into the engine....

not if you have your spark plugs gapped right. I think your fine if you got no misfires

I never had problems with knock.

The problem is, your pulley is worthless after a couple full throttle runs. Heat soak will kill the extra advantage of the pulley. That's where the alcohol will come in handy.

Also, you can have a horrible a/f ratio without noticible knock. I suggest you get a wideband o2 sensor as well as a way of adjusting fuel asap.

Yea i do notice the heat soak really fast.... i got the SMC kit from my father that i will hook up once i get back from my road trips... probably just going to slap on the 2.7" just to be all safe.

Mr Pute - how much of a power gain did you notice after the alcohol injection with the 2.6" pulley.. because right now thats the smallest pulley i have.. and i can get pulleys very easy and cheep so i am wondering if i should bother the 2.5" ? and since i am just getting to 6psi at the top of my RPM's with the 2.7" pulley would the 2.4" with alcohol be way to much?

My supercharger maxed out with the 2.6" pulley. Anything past that and it's all the same for me. Don't know why other people have had different results (so they say).

I'm thinking at this point, the only way to get more boost out of the s/c is to port it.

Try your luck with a 2.5" if you want. I honestly think you're out of your mind though without keeping track of what your fuel is doing. The stock pump isn't meant to ever see the type of boost pressure the 2.6" pulley can make. If I had to guess, you're starting to get pretty lean becuase you're maxing out the fuel pump.

Freebs, do you know the temps of the compressed air with the 2.6" or 2.7" pulleys?

i got the 2.6 and i have no problems.... AF is leaner than the stock pulley, however i am stil at 13.9:1 at 6K.. maby ive got a freak pump.

well i still have the stock pump in there now.. but i am using the one my dad had in his GNX and it is a 355 Walbro i think... i know way to big.. but its free and barely used.

I think i have only seen it spike up to 7.5-8psi max with this 2.6" pulley on. then i get heat soak.. and actually it wont even jump up to that any more... even when its a cold night i dont know whats wrong..ahah i think i am getting screwed.. i not only see less boost than any one here with the same pulleys but i am not getting any knock as well (i know a good thing) but it could also be a bad thing. I will see how things go with the Alcohol injection and the 2.6"....And i don't think i am going to lean... i still have a nice thick black layer of exhaust on my tail pipe that was never there before (when i was N/A) and like TaetschZ24 said he is still at 13.9:1 at almost red line.

Also probably going to get the s/c ported out here soon along with my head... i am going full race head from JBP and then porting the s/c... so i will see how that goes.

keep in mind you will see less pressure the more stuff gets ported

but the airflow helps comensate for the loss in boost pressure

ahah yea i know.. there was a guy saying how if he pays the $4000 or what ever for the RSM kit he expect 6psi of boost and all this... "if i pay for 6psi of boost, i would expect 6psi of boost" ahah he didnt get it at all...

Just to let you know, 13.9:1 is horrible for a boosted application...especially for higher psi levels. Give it some fuel TaetschZ24.

12-12.5 is the sweet spot...or near there.

Well i asked my dad what fuel pump the one he has for me is.. and i guess its not the 355 or what ever... its just under 340.. but either way still more then enough so i dont have to worrie.. i think if it worked on his 3.8L V6 turbo pushing 25-30psi of boost it will work on my car.

I know its lean for boost, however im saying that the stock pump is running the car fine, more fule would be solved with injectors, from what i under stand also, the buckett fule pump system of a Z-24 can not ultlize a walbro pump, i really dont like that thought, hoever an inline booster pump may be my ticket when i get alch, and the 2.5in pulley.. but then im going to want biget injetors,

were can i get them?

Are you running the entire GM supercharger system including the 310cc injectors???? If so, consider your fuel pump the problem since I'm running the 310cc injectors with a Walbro 255lph pump and I'm running rich across the board right now at roughly 11.5:1. I made some changes to my fuel maps last week and I have yet to lean them out.

Keep in mind this is also at 10psi with the 2.6" pulley.....

I have a Walbro 255lph pump in the bucket for the stock fuel pump. No cutting was done to the bucket and I do NOT have fuel cut either. Works fine.

Inline booster pumps won't do you jack if the stock pump is maxed out. You can't flow more fuel past something that has it's own bottleneck.

I was under the impression that with the walbro pump that you had to hack the tank and get rid of the buckett system..
cool

my next question is how are you geting 10lbs with the 2.6"
ive got the PB 2.6 and am only seeing 8lbs on a cool day at top rpm of the gear.
inless thats what alch does...... yes i need that to still.

he has alcohol injection on his car already... so i think that helps him hit the 10psi... also depends on your elevation...

Chris, you fool.......

the Walbro pump works great, no modifacations to the fuel cup.

the Blazer/Vortec.... AC/Delco pump need the fuel cup cut, other wise you get fuel cut.

I'd NEVER use a inline booster pump...... = garbage.
