I've got a 2000 cavalier with the 2.4 . I went and used a free turbo calculator and it said to use a garret t25. is that the one for first gen eclipses and relativly small?
i need help!!!!
what every one else have ?
turbo?
intercooler?
injectors size (cc please)?
bov ?
wastegate?
what kinda gains?
and are you happy with them?

intercooler?
if you boost anything over 5psi you should be intercooled. decent intercoolers can be found

wastegate?
bov you can run anything you want, just make sure you have the flanges for it to mount on. Wastegates, same thing... don't go rediculously huge unless you're running huge amounts of power, and even then bigger isn't always better. Wastegates regulate boost, so sometimes a smaller hole allows for finer control of boost and sometimes retains throttle response. But again, this depends on what you're trying to accomplish

this is dependent on what kind of mods you have to back up the boost. someone running a set up with full exhaust wont see as much gain as someone else with the same set up plus a ported/polished head, as well as how much boost you plan on running.
these aren't definite figures, but most people see at least 50hp gain at the minimum... and with a little tuning you can see alot more than that.
I suggest you read up on the FAQ at the top of the boost forum it has a LOT of useful information, as well as my post on the perfect turbo match. I take you through selecting a turbocharger step by step for any engine, and any boost level.
All of these things depend on how much power you want to make. there a few good online injector caluclators. and again the turbo size depends on how much boost you want to make. alot of people push a smaller turbo for fast spool up but that generaly leads to excessive heat in the charge and high backpressure & egt's a larger turbo that makes boost later in the powerband will be more confortable to deal with on the street and will be nicer to your engine tempature wise. again this is mostly a matter of prefrence. you could get away with low boost (under 5 psi) on a junkyard t3 or t25 (t3 will be easier to buy a manifold for) using a fmu, e-manage, megasquirt ect on stock injectors w/o and intercooler but you would REALLY be pushing your luck. and be beyond the 80% dutycycle of the injectors with the e-manage or ms. wastegate selection depends on how much power you want to make and how fine of controll you want to have over boost. many junkyard and new turbos have an integrated wastegate that dumps just past the turbine and isint to great performance or controll wise since they start to crack open early leading to more then necessary lag and cause additional turbulance and backpressure in the exaust downstream of the turbo. externals if sized and controlled right offer superior performance and can be dumped back into the exasut much farther down in the exaust or even have there own pipe. the bypass valve simply needs to allow boost pressure to be recirculated back into the compressor to prevent surges when the throttle is closed. the size depends on the flow of the turbo and pressure level you intend to have. getting a rediclious noisy one isint a performance upgrade. people have done small setups and expect gains similar to a 50 shot from the bottle. others have done setups running in excess of 20 psi went fast and ended up needing a new engine
(nobody i know *grin*) theres tons of people running boost on here and many of them will be happy to help ya get it sorted.
If you want to see details on my setup there is a link in my sig to all of the details. its a work in progress that HOPEFULLY will be able to squeek in done in time to blow it up at the bash
