Which high flow fuel pump to go with for boost
Sunday, June 19, 2005 11:24 PM
ok well soon i will be in around the 9-10psi range and i think my stock pump will die at these levels... so i am wondering what is the best fuel pump that i can get that wont die on me if i only have a 1/4 tank left? and what not. Also if it helps here is what my set up consists of right now.
01 sunfire
- GM supercharger 10psi
- SMC alcohol injection
- header
- full 2.5" exhaust
so i should be over the 200hp range (have not dynoed yet)
also if you could, let me know where i could buy the pump

alot of people go for the blaze pump available from high rev motorsports.

its a drop in tank replacement pump. no inlines to worry about.

thats the pump I plan on running.. haven't heard of any problems with it

well thats what i planed on getting but there is a post in here saying some one went threw like 2 of these in less then a month... and i heard that if your under a 1/4 tank of gas all these problems arise... because i usually run my tank until i have about a 1/8th of a tank (right when your check gauges light comes on or a bit lower)

2 of them in less than a month?

2 of them in less than a WEEK.

We are putting the 3rd one in tomorrow, and rewiring the entire fuel pump setup to ensure it's not a voltage problem. I roasted the 2nd pump in less than 180 miles.

I don't see how this pump would struggle as it powered a 4.3L Turbocharged Vortech engine in the early 90's... so this is ridiculous.

And it's under 1/2 tank that fuel cut "sort" of begins... at 1/4 tank its very very obvious...

I just fill up at half a tank to keep the pump submerged and cool... not that it has made it last any longer at this rate.

This is my 3rd and last blazer pump. If it craps out I'm going aftermarket company.

You guys should search a bit. I searched this weekend and found plenty of posts on the Blazer pump and people's problems with it.

I will say this: When it was working it gave me a TON of fuel.

I had a intank pump as well on my Sunfire it was off a Turbo Grand National. Holley made it. They have two different version of it regular and HO version. Bought it from summit racing for 196 dollars I believe for the HO version. Never had any problems with it.

Karo - so the Grand National pump would work in my car ? like fitting and such?... hahah if so i got lots of pumps to choose from in my basement as we had a Grand National and now we currently own a 87 GNX just the rare version... I could even use the 2 stage fuel pump ahah one stays on all the time and the 2nd stage comes on and a set boost level.

I use walbro 255 intank like many other on the .org, and if installed right you wont have no fuel cut offs with myself included. I run it all the way to 1/8th even when the light comes on and its good to go!! hehe

SunfighterGT,
Does the Blazer pump have two inlets at the top of it?....One inlet uses a accordian tube to feed fuel, and the other uses the small black hard plastic tube that goes to the other inlet? I am guessing that it didnt have those two inlets since you are having problems with fuel cut.

Karo,
Did the GN pump have the same type of lines, or was there only one line?

Adler - only one outlet tube on the top... the inlet is on the bottom.

I'm using the walbro with no problems whatsoever.
No cutoff or excessive noise.

walbro for a year =

i fill up at half tank though, it is cheaper and keeps the pump sumerged.

i tried to run it down to "e", but it ran outta gas right at the light was going to come on.
