I've noticed that everybody is turbocharging post 1994 cars, what if I want to bolt a turbo on my 93 Sunbird 2.0 MPFI. Anyone know where I can get a kit or how much boost those engines can handle....I need boost, tired of being outran by mustangs..
If I remember right there was a guy named Curtis that had a fast as hell turbo 2nd gen.

There are several turbo 2nd Gen Guys. Frank has a turbo 3800 Cav, I have my 91 3.1 turbo Cav, Steve has his 91' turbo wagon Cav....
As for a 2.0, since they came turbo stock, you can easily get a stock turbo manifold, etc, etc. Worked on those before, put a T3 flange on the stock cast manifold too.

well I just finished mine just today as a matter of fact check out my reg... and you'll see how its coming along, but if your doing it and if its not from factory be very patient it will take along time to do and alot of modifications.
**changes are here**
I've got two turbo 2nd gens. One factory 2.0 'bird, one junkyard turbo 2.2 ohv.
Hey, Curtis! I think I've got that manifold you welded out in my barn. lol.
-->Slow
uhhhhh talk to SpeedVisionCavalier either on here or over at Quad4Forums... he knows too much about 2nd gens, Quad4's in 2nd gens, and boosted Quad4's in 2nd gens lol
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
Thanks.. the only problem is that my Sunbird is my only car and I can't have it in the shop very long or blow it up. If it boost, it I want to make sure its safe...Hell i'm just going to save some money and buy about a 97 GTP, and hop that up. I like big cars.
As for a J-body, I'm thinking a 3rd gen z24 with a 2.4liter 5-speed, and just starting to throw parts at it until its an all out neck stapping, horable riding speed freaks dream. And maybe turn a GTP into a fast as hell comfortable cruizer. My dad has a 97 Sunfire with a 2.4 5-speed and the things damn quick, just think if you slap a turbo on one of those things.
Heck you could buy both those car for around 8 grand.
I love my sunbird, but I just cant do anything with it, and it's not worth the money to keep up with the faster cars in town.
If you got that manifold from David (CavGT), I actually didn't weld, I had it done somewhere. I do now weld most of my parts myself, but I still suck at piping....

I suppose if someone makes a supercharger for it, that would be a lot easier....but I'm guess you probably cant get a blower kit for a 2nd gen 2.0.
^ well it is a car/ motor that isent made any more......( if thats a hint )
id go with a junk yard turbo kit for it..... A SC on that motor..... go turbo.

Even if I can find a turbo for it.. god knows how much boost the stock block can handle. I'de like to get all to parts form A sunbird GT (what do they run stock anyway), but I've heard that won't work, because the head is different, the computer will freak out and there are no place to tap oil lines. Bull, or true, I don't know.
I've worked on turbo cars plenty of times, but converting them is something new to me.
maybe I should stay naturally aspirated.
oil lines... return it to the pain, take it from the pressher sencer.......... there are copious amounts of information on this subject, almost all cars have had a junkyard turbo kit installed....

I think the stock Sunbird actually runs a good deal of boost. I also believe that the 2.0 turbo was available in the Grand Am's of the same years.
