FPR and FMU on Turbo Ecotec
Thursday, June 09, 2005 2:34 PM
I've tried searching this forum and read both FAQ's, but there is no information on the Ecotec. I've got injectors a fuel pump and MSD Fuel pump booster, I'm going to be running 10-12 psi. I know I need an FMU, but can I maintain the stock FPR because there are no adjustables on the market that I know of. How is the FMU installed?

accel makes a adj. FPR ..found --> Here

Your gonna need more then just a FMU to run that much boost on a decent turbo...i would reconmend using a SAFC-2 with a FMU anything over 5-7 PSI. I have a FMU with 310cc injectors and barely stay rich becuase of just the FMU. Im not intercooled yet either and i stay between 11.8 when i hit boost and get to around 12.8 around redline and its turned up max. When i get intercooled i plan on hooking up a safc-2 and turning down the pressure from the FMU a little.

FMU is tapped into you fuel line in between the rail and the fuel tank. then is fed a vacuum signal from your intake manifold.

The MSD Fuel Booster is basically an SAFC, it reads boost in the manifold and then turns it into a siganl that goes to the fuel pump to send more fuel. Is the FMU on the return or supply side, pictures of installs please.

Im not sure if that MSD booster is a reliable method of getting more fuel out of the injectors...you need somthing to controll the injector pulse which a SAFC does i beleive..FMU adds pressure to the line to force more fuel out of the inector when it opens up...i dont think your booster is gonna help...but you wont find that out untill you wideband or dyno test it.

FMU is on the return side of your fuel lines. I used quick disconnects like whats on the stock hose that hooks it up on the medal line near the fuel rail. Put a Male end on the FMU and got a 7 inch fuel inj. hose and had two male ends pressed on each side (i think male ends on each side, my bro did it). They click in. No clamps.
