Boost does not increase smog in most cases, usually the only time your car is on boost is when you are driving, at a smog station, it would be idling I think. So at the worst, you could get your car certified before you install the kit (good for 2 years I think), then remove it if you need to get certified again.

From what I understand, you just can't make any adjustments to your exhaust system until after the catalytic in California (any changes must be certified by the CARB). Also, if you take the test, and then put the stuff on, you better pray you don't get pulled over and checked out.
If you really want boost...remote mount turbo...It's not the most efficient system, but it will be legal. Basically, you put the turbo in place of your muffler, then you have to run charge pipes and oil lines all the way down the car.
Everyone laughs at the thought, but I've seen some pretty successful setups. Anyone seen the write-up on the 3.1 cav? I think it was on a f-body forum...

Shouldn't the car run cleaner with upgrades with air? I always thought with more upgrades your car runs more efficiently. Well on upgrade I know that would definitely help would be an MSD-DIS2 because it helps to burn up more of your fuel.
