Overkill my ass, if you ever wanna properly control you motor and ditch the stock ECU this is the way to go.
It is not that DJ is overkilling it, it is just that everyone is NOT killing it ENOUGH.

BTW, DJ does that DIS-7 work anyways different from a DIS-2?

lol interesting replies.. as for over kill i agree but its sounds very ... well deadly is the only word that comes to mind.. that @!#$ has 10000x more power than the dis-2 has with the blaster coils.. when it sparks it looks like pure fire! to give an example of how much more powerful it is..... i had them laying on top of my radiator support.. and the spark was jumping OUT of the boot which is a good 3/4 inch or so deep, and hitting the car.. Through the damn paint!.. i tried that with the dis-2 cables.. they wouldnt even hit my damn hood pin.
anyways, the Ecotec distributor is a cam sycn.. what i need it the crank trigger for it to work as a stand alone, which im gonna have to buy..
everything came out to about $750 (what the digial-7 costs alone!) so i think it was a good deal. and i have no complaints so far. Its all BRAND NEW and it all WORKS! Even with out the crank trigger but right now its just doing what the stock puter tells it, unless i save myself $300 and just use the megasquirt to control it, not sure what im gonna do yet.
as for the power steering.. i havent had power steering since i did the swap.. well i had it maybe for a whole 5 minutes.. then the power steering line touched the down pipe and there went all the fluid.. and it just stayed like that...
Actually now that i have removed the power steering pump it is WAY easier to turn, its not a bother at all, almost like it has power steering i just gott be moving 1/2mph or faster for it to be real nice, but from a stop it isnt to bad.

first off its a complete STAND ALONE IGNITION SYSTEM.. so go along with my megasquirt
i now have LAUNCH RETARD for first gear only hopefully i can set it up by friday.. maybe i can pull better 60ft and not spin as much. As well as staging limiter and burn out limiter
and they can be adjusted by 100's unlike the dis-2 the staging limiter was set at 3000 cause that was the lowest.. i launch more like at 1500-2000 so now i can actually use it.
I can retard individual cylinders for optimal performance (over kill im never going to use it, and thats the whole reason behing the cam cync.. just for this feature)
i have 5 different shift lights... one for each gear
i can retard on start up... cause my compression is to damn high! (another overkill)
i have 3 different retard stages/maps
it has a built in window switch (if you have nitrous)
thats about all i can think of.. from playing with it. im sure there are more, just look it up online..

with my car set up how it is now its kinda impossible for me with the rsm supercharger runing off the power steering theres not enough room but def an awesome setup
