listening..

although I have a 2.2 I'm interested in hearing how others connected their water jackets.

those Saab T3's have the ports for oil and water cooling. you can just block it off if you don't want the water cooling, but of course it still must be oil cooled.

it's not really necessary. those saabs are watercooled from the factory i believe, but who really needs that on an aftermarket kit pushing only as much boost as you will run through that size of a T3

I did a dodge neon in october with a water cooled system...we just used a t elbow on both sides of the heater core... ( 2 big lines that go into the firewall)... its not that hard u just have to drain the radiator before you get into it.

how much boost were you running through that turbo?

Besides keeping the turbo cooled by the water jackets and to keep the bearings from getting coked up from hot oil....can someone tell me who has there water inlets and outlets tapped into there engine cooling system, how doe it fair against underhood temps? does the turbo still radiate heat like without it? It gets hot as hell under the hood after a little bit of driving and i was planning on hooking them up, just wonder if it would help under hood temps a great deal???

the turbo can still do just fine without watercooling. i mean what's the difference between Saab factory turbos and DSM factory turbos? One is watercooled, one is not. Neither turbo develops early shaft play and bad bearings unless it is consistantly heat soaked. Granted, it might be a little harder to do with watercooling, but if it were really easy to do, then everyone would be using watercooled setups.

i plan to be running around 15 psi or alittle higher for my max psi but about 6 or 7 psi for daily driving. i will just go oil cooled and replace the bearings in it now and probly upgrade to a t3/t4 shortly and have it be just oil cooled so i dont have to mess with all this.

water cooling on factory turbos was for making the turbos live longer. people has the bad habit of running cars hard and just shutting them off. that will kill a turbo in short time. hence the reason turbo timers are on the market. ford 2.3T's were water cooled also

see ya!

turbo timers are your friend. and even if you don't want to spend the money on a turbo timer... just be responsible and let your car idle for a minute before you shut it off. be good to your turbocharger... and your turbocharger will be good to you.

i plan on getting a turbo timer but i dont have the money right now for it. it will have to wait for a month or so but i will let it cool down before i turn off the car.

12 PSI, We raced an srt-4 and killed it by 3 car lengths... dynoed at 262whp

Back on topic.... heater core is the easiest way... and it doesn hurt a damn thing.... not only that if you live in cold areas it may help you during the winter
