who has a 3inch downpipe. is there much room?

i want to upgrade to a 3 inch downpipe. my 2.5 is close to the crossmember or whatever and power steering lines (which i can buy heatwrap). does anyone have rattle where it hits the car or does it clear pretty good. i guess most 3inch downpipes are custom made. do most of you have the flex pipe on also. thanks

well I know my 2.5 is a tight fit, but we already have it heat wrapped, I cannot remember but someone was telling me they went in front of the cross memeber with their downpipe instead of in between it and the frame little more room to work with

something to also check out, forgot the company, i think summit sells em... but one company makes OVAL pipes that are for low profile mounting.

i had a 3" downpipe on mine and it is a damn close fit. But with this downpipe i am going to be using a 2 1/2 u bend off the turbo and 3" for the rest of the exaust.

so i suppose the heat wrap will keep things safe even if it is directly touching something? ive tried to go to some exhaust shops and they say oh it cant be done. i know we've all heard that. like boostedeco said^ i might just try the 2.5 for a few inches then go 3 if it doesnt defeat the purpose.

I have a 3 inch downpipe, it's tight but it fits. I had to move my power steering and fuel lines because they were too close to the downpipe. After the move everything fits pretty good. Lines are only touching in 1 spot and i have extra heat wrap in that area. I have over 6k boosted miles on my setup and the heat wrap is doing the job. To be on the safe side, my downpipe is in heat wrap and so are my power steering/fuel lines. As for the cross member..There is no rattle and does not touch the crossmemeber at all... Right after the downpipe I have a flex. Not sure if these pics are helpful. I just ran outside and took them real quick. please excuse the rust - ohio weather sux

3 inch here, all wrapped, and Phil it was me that told you went under the K member, I just got too tired of trying to make it through(between the chassis and the K), it used to rattle and stuff.

No it is not too low and no I have not yet hit it once. The only thing I hit is my muffler, (instead the CAT). No emissions here. lol
