does anyone know where to find the rpm signal on a 2002 2200 ls. i have a tachometer, do i tie into that or what. thanks for the help.
i'm still trying to hook a tach to my 2200, u gotta get a tach adapter and hook it to the coil packs

you have a manual...which means you already have a tach.... which means you should have a tach signal right?
usually a green wire under the hood somewhere... if you have a manual, you should be able to find it.
sorry. i didn't word it right. i meant rpm signal on the pcm to hook up the emanage. I don't see it on the wiring diagram. i didn't know if i should tie into the factory tach somewhere under the dash.
that diagram does not match up to my pcm.
things should be similar, is there white wire in the cluster... check the link for the black connector...
also i have HEARD you can tap off the tach fuse wires in the fuse panel...dont know how accurate that is, but might be worth a multimeter test.
Hey Event Not trying to say your wrong or anything but.
My 2000 2200 is a 5speed and it DID NOT come with a tach. so some guys get way confused when you tell them to just pull from there exsiting tach when the might not have one either. Yea I know my car sucks .lol
can you get the rpm signal from the crankshaft position sensor or the camshaft position sensor?
hey I'm listening too, even though I've got a 96 2.2L
so you say I can tap into a wire from the back of the cluster?
crazy @!#$

What he said. I used a sunpro tach and taped directly to the pcm and connected to the tack out put there and my tach is on 2 cyl setting works w/o tach adaptor but only on some tachs. so you might need athe adaptor
Wow. Too much misinformation in this thread.
The 95-99 Z-24s and GTs have a full rpm tach signal on the fuse box panel located in the engine bay.
The 95-97 2200s are SOL. You need a tach adapter to connect to the two ignition wires to create a full rpm tach signal.
The 98+ 2200s have a tach signal on the C2 black ECU connector at pin 10. From what I know with experience from my 2000 Z, this pin DOES NOT already have a pin in it's connector hole. You need to located a pin to put in the hole to use the full rpm signal. I could be wrong on this though. There might be a wire there already.

All of the Ecotec equipped j-bodies require a tach adapter to connect to the two ignition wires to create a full rpm tach signal....at least this is predominantly what everyone knows at this point.
Oh and Event, the tach signal coming to the dash of every j-body is digital...meaning it is sent through a serial bus from the PCM to the dash. You can't extract the signal from the dash cluster regardless of how hard anyone tries.

Trace the wire.
